Agree with most of that but better than it was, on the limping Tiger forum you cannot even post a music video in Thai, Yinn and myself were both banned for that, on a Thai forum. ???? As for the weak door it's just the place if you like personal abuse and bullying. Apart from the banned words I think they have it about right on here these days.

George was the founder member I believe, 20th November 2002.

I joined 30th November 2002.

Any other November 2002 members still around?

George and Dr PatPong were the original admin. Think PP passed away.

I was reading early 2003 but never got around to signing up til 04 being a bit green & all worrying about security.

Yes, it has changed immensely--one could have a good laugh back in the day (the likes of chonabot and ravisher)--and it is heavily moderated, but it is what is it. Still a good, up to date source for news, visas, travel, housing etc, and there are still are some excellent threads being churned out. The abandoned building one (by djas is it?) is fantastic!

Google has this forum rated as a family oriented forum

And even so, what does it prove? Pornhub is an adult web site but I bet kids still log in on that !!!!! Aseannow is living in the past wise up. And why is just mentioning Teak  /  Door a no no? It's not a swear word? Mention other forums and that's okay. May be that on Teak  /  Door they criticize this forum very much for its stance on moderation?

Now the above is just a whinge.

The forum is not your personal space so  you need to  take the rough with the smooth.

The forum provides the tools to ignore posters you feel are annoying to you.

again its your choice to use or not to use these tools.

Try smiling and develop a sense of humor to use on forums.

Well said; some people don't understand what the word "forum" means.

I disagree,

Now first off you quoted me.

with my old and grumpy comment. ( i do think this true of some posters)

Now you had the opportunity to laugh at it, you chose not to.

what does that say, does the cap fit ?

And ditto the same back to you also.

The point is that I made a constructive observation about a specific problems with the forum, you simply told us how you felt, there's a big difference.

That doesn't make your comment any more worthy than his, don't forget, this is a public forum.

Those that were younger than that will have replaced them, though.

Sure? Where are the numbers.

I'd have expected the new expat numbers to have decreased hugely since February 2020 - those two years+ I'd be surprised if previous levels were somehow maintained given the various total travel bans due to Covid19.

A very small statistical sample - seven of the nine local expats in our town departed early-mid 2020 to their home countries - given their ages I'd guess they're all either deceased or in rest homes, waiting; none have returned; the eighth had a job transfer.

I'd have noticed a sudden influx of new faces. Even one would stand out.

For retired people (I'm not) the costs of health insurance, risks of healthcare here may have deterred some from retiring here?

Lots of questions, but I'd estimate a lower number now than 2019.

I wandered in here this Feb after a decade plus of just reading the forum. Can't fault a thing about the place (well, the imaginary place).

I'm grateful that someone else is moderating and paying for the server so that I can have a few laughs and get some useful info -and maybe even provide some in return. Because karma is a boomerang.

When I first got here, I got a ton of likes on my posts and that has fallen off down to nil. You're hot, then you're not. It seems that overall, most posts get less reaction these days.

I'm grateful for all the great characters here, and count myself lucky to have met a couple of them. Tho the ones I really want to meet wouldn't touch me with a barge pole.

When you speak of a statistical sample, and, especially, when you italicise the word "statistical", one wonders what you mean.

Statistically speaking,..

Would you please report to us your statisticical analysis?

Such a thing is easier said than done.

How much do you know about proving validity, statistically speaking?

Please just strut your statistical stuff, and show us that you know how to use statistics to arrive at a valid conclusion, based on your data.

Please don't play fast and loose if you, actually, know nothing about statistics, such as confidence.

Musk approach?  You mean I'm the richest so I can stomp on anybody and everybody with impunity?  Would fit the Thai HiSo practice.

I think he meant free speech. Why are you afraid to hear opinions that differ from yours? Can't you just refute them?
