Detection Dog Stops Tourist from Smuggling in Smoked Bats

Hmm, Kunming you say ?

Not very surprising, when I have watched those Aussie border control programs, both the quantity and 'exoticness' of goods found on Chinese arrivals never ceases to amaze...

That's a couple of bat snack stories in the last few days, I really hope this is not going to become an in-trend food option here in LoS.

Bats?  Was it ever proved they were the source of Covid transmission at  that Chinese market? Or still not found yet?

It will never be proven conclusively one way or another. What boggles the mind is how anyone can think transporting ANY meats across international borders can be acceptable.

Plenty of Thais eating bat.

Seasonal delicacy up here on the Cambodian border.

An “Inspector Beagle” found a suspicious bag from a flight originating from Kunming. Officials opened it and found 2.5 kilograms of smoked bats, 2.5kg of smoked pork legs and 4.5kg of smoked bacon.

Well, well! What diseases and viruses were the filthy bats carrying???

Lab leak seems more likely.  Wet market a cover up.

Should also train the dogs for illegal narcotics, explosives, etc.

And why, do tell us, would anyone bring narcotics into Thailand via Bangkok in a suitcase, when they can bring a boat or truckload in at a thousand places on the border?

Yes, there are idiots from South America, but they get caught without dogs, because they're idiots.

There are other breeds anyway, that find drugs and explosives better than Beagles, who specialise in edible contraband.

It will never be proven other than the SARS Coronavirus (COVID) is likely to have originated from bats in China. They carry various SARS Coronaviruses.

Whether COVID was from an infected bat at the Wuhan wet markets, or from a zoonotic transference of the virus from a bat to another species to human, or from a leaked sample at Wuhan laboratory (where gain of function tests on bat derived  SARS COVID viruses were being carried out) - we will probably never find out as data was removed from the lab.

China, not wanting to own up for the pandemic, did a good job on causing enough of a smokescreen on information with blameshifting strategies.

Then of course conspiracy theories on steroids erupted and finger pointing everywhere else was attempted from both within the CCP and elsewhere from paranoid tin foil hat wearers around the world.

Got to the point that people forgot about China and bickering and new conspiracy theories morphed, with wild beliefs over the virus being fake, masks being a from of government control, vaccinations killing more than the virus (some claimed as a form of population control by culling, big pharma conspiracy theories as well etc etc etc).  Interesting times and a lot of psychological studies into human behavior.  I'll be glad to never have to talk about or hear about COVID ever again in the near future.
