Serious COVID-19 infection cases on the rise in Bangkok and tourist provinces

COVID-19 infections in Thailand last week increased 12.8%, compared to a week earlier, and it is anticipated that the number of patients requiring hospitalisation is likely to increase in the next 2-4 weeks, according to Dr. Tares Krassanairawiwong, director-general of the Disease Control Department.

 

Describing the rising number of infections as just a “small wave”, he said that the situation was not unexpected, with the fatality rate remaining stable despite the increase in more serious cases, after Thailand designated COVID-19 as a “communicable disease under watch” on October 1st.

 

He disclosed that increased hospitalisations were reported in Bangkok and its surrounding provinces, as well as in tourist provinces in eastern and southern regions, adding that more than half of the cases reported between November 6th and 12th are not vaccinated or not fully vaccinated, leaving them vulnerable.

Elderly, Ill, Young Children Urged to Get COVID Jabs as Cases Soar

 

 

BANGKOK, Nov 14 (TNA) – The Department of Disease Control urged elderly people and those with underlying illnesses including young children to receive COVID-19 vaccination as it expected the number of seriously ill patients to rise in 2-4 weeks due to the presently increasing COVID-19 cases and patients admitted to hospitals.

Dr Tares Krassanairawiwong, director-general of the department, said that the number of COVID-19 cases and inpatients in the 45th week of 2022 climbed up by 12.8% from the previous week.

 

The number of severely ill patients went up slightly while fatal cases remained stable. The situation was expected as there would naturally be small waves after COVID-19 was declared a communicable disease under surveillance on Oct 1, he said.

There's supposedly none on order.  For the general population anyways.

 

This was according to a report in the Bangkok Post.

 

Hopefully there not depending on there own vaccines that are formulated for the original virus much like Sinovac.

I have tried ALL hospitals in Khon Kaen for a Moderna Booster.  They have all responded that they have no vaccine at all.  One even said they were awaiting a Government directive????

 

Having two of the symptoms that qualify in the "Vulnerable" category this is not the news I want to read.

Yeah, I gave up on it after trying to book a Moderna shot when they first came available, they had all sold out in 5 minutes and there was something about maybe more becoming available next year.

Nope.  I wouldn't call this "soaring".    The appropriate English word would be "hovering".

Japan and South Korea are both peaking now - as is Hong Kong.  Singapore has peaked.  Everywhere else is basically flat or going down.

Just had it again, much more mild the 2nd time around,main thing was sore throat and cough for 2 days.  Double vaccinated with AZ over a year ago and no booster.

I forgot to mention China.  Their cases are rising again.  Looking at the logarithmic  plot (lower graph) their background cases have been rising throughout the panicdemic they have supposedly had under control.

Nice playing around with words! It is becoming increasingly harder to formulate things in a way still favourable to vaccination. Statistics provided based on a single data point, very compelling ideed… How about providing the age, health condition and BMI of those sick?

 

What is the proportion of sick people who have had zero shots? Probably very low, otherwise you can be 100% sure they would say it.

 

Several people are catching it around me (all jabbed as often as they were told to). 

 

And the unvaccinated? Not sick.

Probably because the people being studied were in their late 70s and 80s where health risks increase each year anyways. Every single time there's some catch or little omitted detail. Not falling for it.

I know a number of people in the past few weeks both here and back home who have been really quite sick, they’re not hysterical. So perhaps you should just ge grateful you got off lightly THIS TIME.

I recently arrived back in Ireland from Thailand and there was an urgent message to contact my GP... When I did he said he was concerned that I didn't get the new booster. More or less demanded I go to the surgery there and then. That's 5 shots now I've had but it didn't stop me getting Covid... and where did I get it in February .... Yep...Thailand.

Why is Thailand so far behind the curve? Serious questions are being asked even with the pro vacs lobby in media and governments. There is so much information on the .gov website in the UK (it totally contradicts what is being said) that would seriously question anyone who contemplates vax a child, in some countries and states in the US it is banned. Please research then decide but research and you may be horrified (.gov.uk is a great source of information).

When I got probably a variant what the hospital gave me didn’t help at all. I went to a pharmacy and told the lady to give me the strongest antibiotic you have. It was to be taken over three days, and by the second day I started feeling fine, and by the third day it was gone.

More than half? So something like the elections in the US, 49% : 51%? Or is it the other way around? The vaccinated having more serious symptoms? Just wondering ????

IF the antibiotics worked, you had a bacterial infection not a viral.

 

Its of course possible that the viral infection led to an additional complication of a bacterial infection in the lungs... but Antibiotics is not going to work on the Covid virus itself.

Or, (as in IF as above) could be coincidence. Whatever the virus/infection was would have cleared up naturally without antibiotics.
