A 60-year-old Russian tourist drowned at Karon Beach in Phuket while on holiday with his wife.

The Phuket Tourist Police Lieutenant Colonel Eakkchai Siri told the Phuket Express that the Karon Municipality rescue team was notified yesterday of the incident (November 13th) by a lifeguard at Karon beach.

They arrived at the beach near the Karon Circle to find the unconscious male foreigner on the beach. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Says drowned in title.

The foreigner was found "unconscious" on the beach.

"Unconscious" is a state of not being awake and not aware of things around you. Such a person is unresponsive and cannot be woken.

What matters then is whether there are signs of life such as blood pressure (ie., greater than 90/60mmHg), core body temperature (above 37.3 degree C), skin color (ie., livor mortise with bluish-purple skin discoloration) etc. As such the subject foreigner cannot said to be found dead, albeit he might be in a nonreversable path to death too late for revival.

"Unconscious" is not a state of death.
