US to help Thailand develop small nuclear reactors

Where do you get that from? Internet and power grid here in Thailand is generally very reliable (except when some bozo truck driver takes down a power pole as happened in our soi last Sunday). The MEA had a new pole installed in a few hours and 3BB were still working at 7pm to splice in new fibre optic lines to all the street by end of the night.

Now leave Bangkok and you'll find a lot of smaller towns and villages where most of the population lives, the power generally goes off whenever there's any kind of rain or wind for anything up to 12 hours or more at a time...

    What could possible go wrong?

  • There is already one (maybe two now) research reactor operating in Thailand (it's been humming along for 60 years or so) ????    I still reckon they should concentrate on solar and storage t

Which is why they need solar and wind power which don't rely so much on the grid.

Now there are so much other and cleaner options for Thailand. Thailand's amount of sun-hours is perfect for clean solarcells nation wide, which also can be used for production of hydrogen. It is maybe a little more expensive, but better a little more expensive and clean environment than a cheaper and dirty environment. Nuclear power produces a sustainable and  dangerous waste polution. An ever growing bad inheritance for future generations.

That’s how the US is going to beat China , nuclear explosion thanks to Thailand

Thais as diligent and apt as anywhere when trained up. You’re hardly going to be seeing Somchai from the village playing with the rods!

Check This one, Samut Prakan radiation accident

Clean nuclear energy? What is clean about radioactive waste?

It's nice a shiny and glows in the dark.......????

Don't things like dams and factories typically displace a load of locals and pollute the surroundings?

Might be a good idea to be on the opposite side of Thailand to wherever this thing will be.

Maybe Xi was afraid Prayut was radioactive when he refused to shake his hand.  He did seem to have a greenish glow to him.

Yup. Just what many countries need. There's an interesting web site right here. The problem with renewables is that there will always be an energy storage problem for when the source is not around, like nighttime for instance.

Many hydro power set ups use low consumption times to pump water back to the reservoir, effectively storing the energy for later use.

I bet they already  have plans to power the Chinese submarines with them.

It's FREE. USA is giving Thailand a Small Nuclear Reactor. Heck, maybe they can trade it for some submarine engines. Win Win for Thai's again.

No, trade the reactor for the immobile Chinese submarines. Maybe no secrets in the export model, though.

Why so many negative comments about Thailand government and its people about being incapable of running a nuclear reactor I hope you don’t live in this country and if you do why

????????: How small a reactor you want?

????????: Vely vely smon. For can  put in submaline.

Nuclear is the best way to go for a nation that has few natural resources.  Wind, Solar and Batteries are a folly or a scam. I'm not sure which.  The physics do not add up.
I suggest that you watch a view videos from people that have actually done the calculation.  But to get anyone interested here's a bit about the electric cars...

My thoughts exactly!

Two words you hate seeing in the same sentence...nuclear and Thailand

what could possibly go wrong?

Given the US current track record with NATO and Ukraine I can't see PRC being over enthusiastic of the US setting up neuclear sites iN LOS.

Thailand does not have nuclear power, with the public mood on the issue souring after the 2011 Fukushima disaster in Japan.

Thailand and nuclear.. what could possibly go wrong?

Well for a country why thinks Thai electricity is different to Western  ectricity and there is no need for earthing of power systems and the floor drainage is always at the highest point of the floor because high water can run up hill, the answer is nothing (can go wrong).

the problem with nuclear power is it has been updated like a bloody computer, every five minutes there a heap of changes, so many changes that the people of the world would not be able to keep up with them, but the latest is looking like it might be a good idea, what country has them, what did they cost, how much power do they provide, is there nuclear waist etc.etc. and will they work on Mars?
