What insect could this be - sorry cannot find in internet

Seen beginning of rainy season, less now little rain.   Will try to photo next time I see good specimen
Ovoid shape, 1 - 2.5cm, chocolate brown colouring top whiter underneath, smooth top, slightly ribbed underneath, may feel slightly tacky and rubbery on back, movement almost imperceptible, very difficult to push with finger, I think that they leave a brown staining to cement road and in local small keep fit running track ( similar to that of cow / buffalo poo which "yes" sometimes enter park ), have not seen glitter track as with certain snails, have not noticed them in grass or roadside plants.
I am sure I will get some hilarious replies but having worked in farming in many countries since the 60's I have only seen this 'insect' here.

I said that I had just finished reading it but I don't know the ending.

It was getting a bit scary on page 9 and I am not ready to read the other 2 pages.

I think describing a grub or caterpillar of some type, not an insect (yet). The one that comes to mind is called a "mah-noi" by the locals here in Isan. (translates to "puppy"). You can find them eating your favorite plants and shrubs, they never eat stuff you don't like.
