Ladyboy murdered after Lumpini meet - necklace, dumbbell on chain, phone recovered - victim was tossed in klong "alive"

Thai media of all descriptions has been following a sensational murder case after the body of Piyada Sornkul, 29, was found in a klong in the area of Klong 2, Klong Luang, Pathum Thani, north of the Thai capital Bangkok.

 

The victim is a ladyboy who Daily News called "Korya". 

 

It has been discovered, reported Thai Rath, that the victim had gone to Lumpini Park where he parked a Mazda 2. 

 

He was then invited by a group of young men to go with them in their vehicle. 

 

After the body was found in the area of Soi Bongkot 40, a detailed autopsy showed three blunt force trauma wounds to the head.

Missing was an iPhone, a brand name necklace and some cash of an unspecified amount. 

 

Region 1 police managed to arrest a 39 year old man called Yuthaphol who told them how the victim was picked up in the Withayu (Wireless Road) area of downtown Bangkok.

 

A knife was then used to threaten the victim in an attempt to rob him. But the victim fought back and in order to escape punishment for what happened a hammer was used to kill the victim who was then put in the klong.

 

The victim had his neck weighed down by a dumbbell with chain. The necklace and phone were tossed in after him to conceal all the evidence.

 

Yesterday evening rescue workers from Poh Teck Tung and divers uncovered the missing evidence from the klong 500 meters from where the body was discovered earlier.

They retrieved a 5 kilogram dumbbell and chain, an iPhone 13 and a Three Monarchs necklace that were all handed over to the Klong Luang police. 

 

One rescue worker said that the dumbbell had not been properly tied to the victim's neck so it was ineffective in weighing down the body.

 

With decomposition setting in the body had floated away in the slow moving water. 

 

Daily News were more sensational in their reporting mentioning the good looks of the victim who they said was "tossed into the klong while still alive".

 

They based this on the statement of a 36 year old "rider" (delivery man on motorcycle) who they called the "cruel murderer". 

 

He said he had hit the victim twice before describing coolly what he did next.

The article said he was picked up by the murderers in a car, the dumbbell, chain and hammer were in there rather than someone’s pocket.

A truly horrible way to go R.I.P. to the poor victim,I’m pretty sure that this isn’t part of the Buddhist teachings that Thailand is supposedly so famous for?

Possibly expected to provide some sort of sexual services for the men in exchange for money.  Maybe they thought she would have a lot of cash on her.

it is a long way from Lumpini Park to Klong 2 in Pratum Thani. Should be lots of evidence in the car that picked her up (if it is found) that could identify who was in the car.

I agree with others who have said that it's disrespectful to refer to this ladyboy as 'him'. But there's no accounting for the many who don't care about the sensibilities of others. No-one's saying the deceased can read this, and no-one's saying they were actually biologically female, neither of these are the point. Not very wise believe the utterances of the  cowardly killer(s). Just as likely they forced the victim into the vehicle and ended up murdering her because she fought back(as it says in the article) !! They all need to be caught and brought to justice.
