Hotel Turned down £500k a year ! for immigrants to stay, heroes or idiots ?

Featured Replies

The migrants have dodged a bullet. They would be better off stopping in France than staying in Skeggy.

Doesn't Butlins have a camp at Skegness? They would feel right at  home.

I think the government is blind to where this is leading.

Since this problem is clearly not going away but rather is getting worse , literally , with each passing day , they need to start planning ahead on how to accommodate all the migrants that will continue to arrive in the future. What will they do when all the hotels are full up ?  If all the hotels are full  ,where will tourists , who generate income and jobs ,  stay ?

I mention a solution in another thread and I still think it has a lot of merit. Better than sticking heads in the sand and praying the issue will resolve itself.

My suggestion is that the government invests in purchasing a decommissioned cruise ship or two, anchor it off shore , and use it to house arriving immigrants. Many of these ships are being sent to scrap before their time since covid completely destroyed the cruise ship business.  People paid a lot to go on a cruise and so nobody could say that the accommodation is below par. Private cabins with all facilities , many eating areas and kitchens , swimming pools , cinemas etc.

Immigrants could be housed on the ships until their claim for asylum has been processed.

The Carnival Inspiration( pictured below ) could handle 2000 passengers when it was operating. And if it doesn't work out at least some money will have been saved and the ship is collateral that can be sold for scrap.

Illegal immigrants, by default criminals, not migrants. Should be the same as here- put them in a detention centre until they pay the fare back, they paid thousands for the boat ride after all.

How do you know they are illegal? They could be from Ukraine, Syria, Afghanistan or plenty other war-torn places. You should be proud they want to come to Great Britain. So much better than all those EU countries we left behind.

It has been reported, even on the BBC, that most of those arriving on boats are Albanians, a country they cannot claim asylum from.

I  was watching Panorama yesterday about the state of housing in the UK,

the rents are through the roof , one guy paying 880 quid a month for a room

which he could touch the walls with his outstretched arms ,damp , toilet not

working , another family ,4 kids , they have to get out just before Xmas as

the landlord wants to renovate and get more rent. they went to the council

looking for a house , nothing doing......so no houses for British people ....but

another Panorama about the cost of food over there , everybody cutting back,

the food banks cannot cope ,I am just glad I got away ,expect crime is rampant,

if things are so sh!t over there ,why are the immigrants /refugees riskinging their

lives , spending 1000's ,when they are already safe in France ,or another European

country they traveled through ,

I don't know why people complain about Thailand .....it's like Nirvana ,to me anyway.

regards worgeordie

Back on-topic.

If I were in the hotel's position, I would turn down the offer too.

Considering what these "migrants" are prepared to do when they don't get what they want, I'd run, fast!

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Wonder what Basil Fawlty would have made of such an offer?

I wonder how people like *Thurgone* (SP) feel about this ?

The Brit guy who went back to live in the U.K recently and will soon be homeless and is looking to get to Cambodia because he has nowhere to live in the UK

He should dress in an Adidas tracksuit and wander around Hastings beach looking lost. Soon be tucked up in a hotel. Learn a few Albabian words and bingo....sorted.
