Well, if the society was noisy and argumentative then I would be pi**ed off too.

By the way my calculations, allowing for leap years is 2887. Seems like he missed at least 32 ninety day reports...................

I see what you did there.????????

I'm not one of these "you're a guest in the country" types, but at least be nice to your neighbours if you're on years of overstay!

Maybe he's gone a bit senile.

He lost track

Hopefully he's got the dosh to buy a flight home otherwise he'll be in IDC for a wee while.

His passport could have also expired, either way, I do feel sorry for the guy, 74 and heading back to Finland, to what ?

Fact of the matter is too many expats end up here with little or no savings, relying only on the pension, which makes me think, what if one day governments all around the world decided to stop paying pensions overseas, what would then happen to all those expats on pensions, they would have to return home, or find other means to survive, suffice to say, I don't trust or depend on governments.

Some here might say, they'd have to grandfather it in, to which I would reply, says who ?

They should give TAT back their calculator.

= 2882 days overstay, it seems they have added the 365 days since he got permission to stay. but reporting actual facts in Thailand seems very difficult.

All calculators have gone AWOL until after the next election.

How stupid can a person be ??????? never have overstayed a single day in all those years. However, if I would be that stupid to do, the least I would do is to cause trouble!!!

well done finish man..enjoy the -20 degrees in Helsinki or wherever you are from this winter.

Having to use these methods to subdue a 74 year old man is pathetic.

Hardly crime of the century.

Negotiations fell through when the old viking started waving his stick, and the Thai Immigration language specialist heard him saying it would be a cold day in Helsinki, when he got sent back.

Not just you...  But, there’s a huge degree of Schadenfreude on this thread....

... yep... over staying is clearly wrong... but we don’t know what mental issues this guy was suffering...

Clearly he’s not 100%...

Sure he is not 100%, but that process doesn’t happen from one day to another. Thailand is the worst places for people having mental issues, as society doesn’t care at all about that.

So it has nothing to with Schadenfreude, but it was stupidity back in the days, when he started overstaying.

Maybe a cup of Bovril?

And really, if they can't disarm and old man with a stick, well.....

Sure thing Rambo. Added to the list.

I thought this forum only allowed English.

I imagine 1. He will not enjoy the coming winter in Finland and will probably be homeless on return judging by his current lodgings and 'wealth', and 2. He'll probably be dead by the end of a 10 year country wide ban !

Immigration in Udon Thani...He was found to be on overstay of 3,246 days.

Yikes. Udon. Bad luck...guess he can't use the airtight excuse given by the overstayers just caught on Koh Phangan "the sea there was so beautiful."

I've wondered how many geezers maybe with a Thai wife or family eventually give up on the visa thing. Bit of pension coming laying low upcountry. Not attracting attention or bothering anyone just wait for the inevitable.

The fact to never be able to travel again outside of Thailand, be in constant fear of getting in a random police control or getting sick and having to go to a hospital, where everything would be revealed.
this seriously can’t be worth it..even if that person lives under a rock.
