Popular Post snoop1130 Posted December 2, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 2, 2022 Pattaya police caught more than ten Thai restaurants breaking alcohol sales law during an early morning crackdown today, December 2nd. At 2:00 AM, Pattaya police continued their regular patrol around the entertainment areas to keep the venues in order under the command of Pol. Maj. Gen. Nantawut Suwanla-ong, acting commander-in-chief of Chonburi Provincial Police. According to the patrol police, they found more than ten Thai barbecue, or Mookata, restaurants, and shops selling alcohol beyond the legal time. The police talked with the venues’ owners, explaining selling booze past midnight was illegal before taking them to the Pattaya police station for legal action. According to Pattaya Police, many people were using restaurants as “de facto” entertainment venues to watch football and drink alcohol after proper bars were legally closed between midnight-2 AM based on entertainment zones. And it provides entertainment for people like me who don't not have anything constructive to do. 2 1 7

If bars and restaurants are allowed to open till 2 AM they can sell alcohol too, but past midnight now not allowed? Why open the nightlife till 4 am than as they so deeply want? Or does the RTP as a few years they saidthemselves doesn't know the laws??? I thought after 17.00 to 5 am it is allowed to buy alcohol, but apparently not. 1

Maybe the selling times depends where you are, if you are a bar in an "entertainment" area, you may be able to open later as opposed to a bar restaurant on a street for example. I believe the vagueness is deliberate to allow the BIB to extort money. In Hua hin before, for a long time, we were only allowed to open until midnight. The BIB came past on motorbikes at 11:45 as a reminder, then again at 12:15. However, certain bars in Soi 80, and Bintabaht were open until 2A.M. and sometimes later.................A free ice cream if you guess who owned those bars....... 2 3 2

Popular Post jacko45k Posted December 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 3, 2022 Dear oh dear, how the tide turns. During Covid we had all the bars pretending to be restaurants, and now we have it the other way around..... Asinine really, there should be some relaxation during the World Cup.... one of life's great pleasures, watching football with a beer and a bit of food! 3 1 1

But it is good that the police enforces the law. What is wrong with it? And the pub should have been closed after 2am already. I guess only a small percentage of the tourists has a problem with this. 2

The Pol Maj Gen is on a mission and I don't suppose he wants to harm his chances of promotion by taking backhanders. But then, you probably don't even know who I'm talking about. 2

They have dedicated entertainment zones where the bars are legally allowed to serve alcohol until 2:00 AM. Eg. Patpong, Nana Plaza.

Popular Post kentrot Posted December 3, 2022 Popular Post Posted December 3, 2022 Yes indeed - thank you for monitoring all of us CHILDREN who don't know what is good for us. Staying up past midnight and having a beer while we watch world class football from around the world is such a no no A better strategy might be to stop the production of alcohol in Thailand completely. They called it PROHIBITION in the USA. And it worked great. Ask "AL CAPONE" . Oh wait - maybe the big money guy$ here would not appreciate that. God forbid that honest working class Thai citizens try to host the HOLIDAY tourists that you desperately claim to pander to. Sigh !!! ******************************************************* 1 2

Bangkok Barry Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 however, that continued hard-enforced midnight to 2 am closings have been incredibly unpopular based on social media comments by foreign tourists, The authorities here just don't get it, do they. 1 1

After midnight you need a special ( entertainment) license.

Is it OK to drink on the street outside a 7/11? Cos my local 7/11 usually has 3 or 4, just casually drinking beer out of the bottle bought in the shop, they even have a bottle cap opener to assist you!

shackleton Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 The police are only doing what their Superiors are telling them to do sort out the places that are not conforming to the rules and regulations A brown envelope a nod and wink in the right place could help ???? ????
Sydebolle Posted December 3, 2022 Posted December 3, 2022 So the other 8'500 places managed to sneak through unseen then ....... It is exactly this extortion rip off by the RTP which ensures such laws like no booze from 2pm to 5pm or after midnight. Where else could they line their pockets that easy?
