Frenchman drowns at Karon Beach

KARON: A 45-year-old Frenchman drowned while swimming in heavy seas off Karon Beach this morning.

Police named the victim as Michael Marcon.

Boona Sritong, Mr Marcon’s girlfriend, told police that she had warned him that the waves looked too heavy to swim in but that he had ignored her warning.

Pol Maj Anek Mongkol of Chalong Police Station told the Gazette that K. Boona reported that she saw Mr Marcon getting into difficulties around 11 am.

She raised the alarm but his body was washed ashore and found by a beach guard some 30 minutes later.

The body is now in Wachira Phuket Hospital.

Not only that 3 seperate drownings came into Patong hospital on Sunday...

2 Farangs and a Thai... I was told by the front desk nurse that it was not a boating situation so 3 seperate drownings in one day.

Have no idea if any of them were fatal.

A drowning by definition is death. Thus, 3 drownings = 3 deaths.

If a person was resuscitated (sp?), it wouldn't be deemed a drowning because that person lived.
