Residents near a temple in Pranakhonchai district of Buriram, NE Thailand claimed that lack of respect led to a crane collapse.

Workers had been brought in to dismantle the old crematorium at Wat Jampa in Pranakhonchai district.

But a crane was unable to handle the job and collapsed onto the roof of a sala or pavilion.

Locals were in no doubt as to the real reason for the crane toppling over, reported Thai Rath.

They claimed it was because workers had not asked for permission from a "higher authority" first before starting work on a structure key to the Buddhist religion.

Two million baht's worth of damage was done.

“Higher authority”......I do not think so. Try inexperience and by looks of it, lack of counterbalance weights!!

And to translate into English:

"higher power" = physics

"ask for permission" = read owners manual

Disrespect…..  a new word for complete incompetence???

It always entertains me how Thai’s will circumnavigate the obvious to blame the ridiculous & implausible.

I wonder if you sue 'disrespect' or it will be be considered even more disrespect...

Can anyone see a 6 digit number on that crane???  Asking for my wife.

How about just pure incompetence.. that works too.

not a brake failure or wet road surface in this case.........  maybe a seizure??

Overloaded, plain and simple, investigation closed! ????

Having a balsa wood crane with not enough counterbalance makes no difference if the spirits say no ????

Same as the direspect cars show to the trains at a rail crossing, I guess..

Don't say that, the same people moaning about the crane sell amulets to incompetent drunk drivers

Blame game culture of Thailand.

Full on again. :coffee1:
