No laugh reaction anymore?

My point is... how can you get annoyed by an emoji? It's a few small pixels on a screen.

I would get annoyed by someone throwing a dog turd into my garden, or someone I don't know coming up to me and laughing in my face in a real pub.

Annoyed by emojis on a forum? Really?

How can you be annoyed by their absence?

Yes, I got slightly annoyed by some posters no posting anything and just continually laughing at posts

IMHO there is no such thing as misusing a laugh emoji.

There are no laws how such an emoji must be used - or else.

There are actually rules about it .

Its considered to be trolling

Or it could be said the "one click" laugh emoji is gone, as you can still use the laugh emoji in your post via the keyboard as demonstrated by many in this topic.

But it's not the same. Like the removal of the other reaction symbols made it not the same.

If I read comments about how to solve a problem, let's say how to get a work permit, then I think it is very helpful to see next to each post the reactions from other people. If one person suggests doing A then it's good to know that 5 members give it a thumbs up because it is a good solution. And it's good to see laugh or similar symbols if someone makes a useless or bad suggestion. And exactly that is what happened until now in this forum.

And if we exchange views i.e. about politics, then I also find it interesting if people agree with me or don't agree or 50/50 or whatever. That doesn't mean I will only post things to get positive reactions. I like to see reality. If people support the idea, fine. If many people laugh about it or think it's sad then maybe it's not such a good idea.

And it's only easy to see if the reaction is right next to the original post. At least I don't want to look through a couple of pages of comments and read each of them to see how others liked my idea.

And personally I don't remember that I was every upset about anybody using the laugh or sad emoji. Maybe I thought about why they did that. And I thought about that maybe a second and then I moved on.

How can people get upset about emojis?

I have not had access to the laugh emoji for about 5 to 6  months. I would see a blank square with a number after it. I then perceived that that was the laugh emoji. It appeared some did have access and others like me did not.

Some posters use it just to annoy other posters and sometimes they follow other posters around the forums laughing at their posts , just because they got upset about something .

My reply would be to the serial laughers, would be to grow up or just ignore the post they got upset about

How was it ?

Did you manage to survive OK ?

Did the woke people cancel you or did you manage to to continue living a normal life ?

How did it effect your life and well being ?

Some posters seem very concerned that their laugh button has been taken away from them

I'm not annoyed about it at all - simply curious how some folk can get wound up in the online world when there's a whole real world just outside their front door.

The only irksome moments I've had here are:

1.) My first posts about a car and a couple of the "established" folk here accused me of lying. Do that in the real world and see what happens.

2.) A certain poster who has already been named in this thread who replies to almost everything with an air of "I'm better than all of you". On this one I just reminded myself that it's just an online forum and maybe it's this persons only avenue to try and appear important... let them have their fun.

I wonder how some ever find employment or ever manage to walk outside into the real world when their online personas are so fragile.

Some of us can laugh about stuff. Others take themselves way too seriously. And social media amplifies grievances. Add in victim culture, and it is a volatile mix. For those of us who do not engage in juvenile apps line Twitter and Tik tok, life can be alot more civilized and fun.

Attention all posters!!

This thread is an excellent demonstration as to why the forum Admin have decided that the laugh reaction is more trouble than it is worth.

Sorry and all that, but if you can't all behave then the toys will be taken away.

The Worst Jokes thread could use a groan emoji.  And a couple of these would come in handy at times:

Today I "argued" with one guy in this forum about drag queen shows for children. He repeatedly asked me to send him a link. I told him: google it, it is easy to find.

It looks like he wasn't able to do that or not willing to do that.

And a little later he tried to explain to me that men in outrageous women's clothing has nothing at all to do with sex and it's just fun for the kids.

That is when I gave up and I just blocked him. Sometimes it doesn't make any sense to try to explain things to other people if they don't want to listen at all. And when I see outrageous comments then I laugh at them. I don't waste my time explaining to people that the earth is not flat.

You're not being honest.. You showed a picture of children sitting on drag queen's laps in a discussion about drag queens in school. I asked you to provide a link to that photo to see if it supported your contention. You refused. I  asked you were you claiming that children sit on drag queens laps when they read to kids in school. You refused to provide any evidence for that. Instead you pulled a typical punk move by asking me to do your research for you.

I do actually have one of those rolling eyes emojis , but I don't often communicate by pulling faces , I feel rather stupid sitting here pulling faces at people online .

Could end up with me and you both sitting here pulling faces at each other

Perhaps, if you are right, I found all those posts funny, sort of like the emoji suggested and having an opinion.

Or maybe we could just reply to the thread and make an actual point?

Some of us do but that is not appreciated, either!

Well. I just get confused when the same poster (and there are a consistent number of them) "likes" both opposing views in a thread.

It is very possible that different people can make sensible posts supporting different views of the same question.

Some issues are complex and so a thoughtful discussion of them will be complex.

As far as your confusion, I have no remedy to suggest for that.

Forums have rules and one of those rules is that laughing at serious posts is considered to be trolling

Which rule would that be, could you specify?

I didn't say that it was my personal space .

The point is that some posts intended to be serious are so absurd that that a laugh is appropriate.

Just remember "If you want to be taken seriously you have have serious hair".

He's quoting a rule of the forum to you and you think that's part of "the problem"?

No, he wasn't, because there is no such rule.  Unless they've been amended recently.

One of the Mods did post it on the forums , that laughing at serious posts is considered to be trolling

if you really believe another forum member is trolling you, then you have the option to put that person on ignore

Exactly, I have a short list of people on ignore because they had nothing to contribute but negativity.

I don't  check to see who posts a laugh emoji at my comments, if it got on my nerves I would know to "ignore" them.

I am not posting this as a joke.
Some posters might benefit from a different use of their time and attention.
Consider if you are averaging 30 posts a day that maybe you are in need of other interests.

"Beginners Guide to Stamp Collecting

Old or young there is never a bad time to start stamp collecting.

Why should you start collecting?

Stamp collecting is a fun and addictive hobby that explores history, geography, art and politics. It can be a therapeutic activity or an opportunity to meet likeminded people and join clubs and societies (List of UK Societies and Federations). Stamp collecting is also a great hobby to encourage your children to be a part of (Stamp Active). It’s an activity away from technology that can connect children to the older generation, who may have also collected when they were younger.
