Siam Rath reported that a ten wheel truck piled into eight motorcycles and cars waiting to make a U-turn on Route 42 adjacent to Suwan Phaibun School in Yaring district of Pattani, southern Thailand.

The truck and another vehicle ended up in and around the central reservation. It happened on Monday afternoon.

Nine injured people were taken to Yaring Hospital one with a serious head injury.

Yesterday Pol Capt Sathit Kasetkala of the Yaring police said that all the owners of the eight vehicles had been contacted and there was no truth to the rumor that the trucker had fled the scene as he was forming part of the investigation.

Three vehicles were write-offs and the owner of the truck was sorting out compensation with all those affected.

I suppose paying attention and stopping was out of the question, preferably before smashing into all these vehicles?

Definitely not paying attention...

Nice bald looking tyre on the rear of the truck...

They have no faith in the powers of Somchai the mechanic .Give him one week and a tin of filler, all will be good to go....

He was probably speeding up past the school to keep the kids safe by clearing the road ????

How terrible. I guess the vehicles waiting to turn were blocking the right hand lane of the carriageway and the HGV driver didn't even notice that they were stationary?

Astonishing that no-one died outright. ????????

I expect it will be put down to micro-brake failure dropping off high...

The penchant for building six lane inter Province highways with a multitude of U-Turns on them will continue....

Watching movies on your phone has that effect of not being able to see anything else in front of you!
