I am not anti mask, I wore one when I was required to do so, I am on about the quality of the masks, the majority sold here in Thailand wouldn’t be effective against Covid, paper thin and not regulated by anyone.

The prevailing public health advice is any mask is going to be better at reducing your risk of contracting COVID than wearing no mask at all.

The better the mask, the better the reduction of risk -- along with all the various other factors involved.

Still Confused About Masks? Here’s the Science Behind How Face Masks Prevent Coronavirus

"The bottom line is that any mask that covers the nose and mouth will be of benefit.

“The concept is risk reduction rather than absolute prevention,” said Chin-Hong. “You don’t throw up your hands if you think a mask is not 100 percent effective."

The science of the face mask might be 100% providing they were to the required standard, but how many sold in 7/11s etc would stop infections spreading, there was minimum standard applied to face masks sold in Thailand, as I said you might as well put a handkerchief over your face.

They all will tend to REDUCE the risk of spreading... not STOP it. Even a cloth worn over one's face.

From the University of California infectious disease dr. quoted above:

"The bottom line is that any mask that covers the nose and mouth will be of benefit."

You're trying to use the "mask quality" element as some reason that people shouldn't wear them in general. And prevailing public health expertise simply disagrees with you on that point.

I never advocated not wearing a mask, just the quality.

From Thailand's "top virologist":

"The death toll in countries where the population was given mRNA vaccines is not lower than that in countries which did not."

Indeed. If I had said this here a year ago, I would have been banned. As expected, the truth is coming out.

If "the death toll in countries where the population was given mRNA vaccines is not lower than that in countries which did not", what does that tell us about the efficacy and usefulness of the said "vaccines"?. I'll let the high IQs on this forum figure that one out.

Another gem from our "top virologist":

"COVID-19 infection has subsided because more than 70% of population of each country has been infected."

Yes, another term for that is herd immunity. Here is what Dr. Yong had to say about it in October 2021:

Top Thai virologist claims herd immunity does not work with COVID-19

https://www.thaipbsworld.com/top-thai-virologist-claims-herd-immunity-does-not-work-with-covid-19/

Changing his tune, as he can feel the tide is turning, no doubt. What you did will not be forgotten, Mr Yong, and that applies to all those who, like you, lied, lied and lied again to push the jab on people.

good for u.. and bravo in repeating the gov and media lines.. u a great citizen..would be even greater if u just knew that your view is evidently wrong..but right or wrong..who cares as long as we can believe someone with obvious credentials ...no need to think by ourselves

It has nothing to do with 'thinking by ourselves', whatever that means.   I make decisions for myself all the time, however, when it comes to something that requires some technical knowledge, it's a good idea to have some input from people who have training, background and experience in the matter.  Unless you are an infectious disease specialist, that's not you, by the way.

Even if the virus completely disappears, are those Thais who seem convinced that all foreigners have covid ever going to be able to change this view?

I feel like the damage is irreversible, at least in the short-term.

Let's thank Fauchi + Peter Dazak or ball s_ck his nick name + US funded Wu han lab ? ?

which engineering degree would that be?

He attended upper-secondary school at Triam Udom Suksa School, and graduated Bachelor of Science in 1972 and Doctor of Medicine in 1974 from Chulalongkorn University.[2]

Are you sure of those dates? 2 years between a bachelor degree and PHD?

Oh dear.

Anything wikipedia-esque as the carved-in-stone standard? Really...?

Not curious about exploring alternatives or questioning the highly manufactured dominant paradigm?

This is what it's come to. Mesmerized and dumbed down by the protocols of convention and officialdom.

So a few weeks ago we were suddenly  told that the entry rules were being changed and all arrivals had to produce a vaccination certificate..people were refused boarding by multiple airlines ! Then almost overnight , that was revoked and it was all systems go again.
We know it was solely to appease China so that they were not alone in being refused entry without a vaccination certificate ... but the impression given was that covid was an escalating danger again  ...

Now it's gonna all but disappear by year end ... The Daily Duh !

We're talking about two dates. Get grip. Anybody can edit wiki and it's peer checked for accuracy.

That's nearly a year away. Why is that such a stretch?

Oh dear.

Appears that the conditioned and repeated narratives are out there - still thriving and too many instinctively imbibing.

Never mind all that other evidence to discount it all.

COVID is deemed to be with us always - in one mutated form or another.

Just as all rhino or rna viruses are.

Why don't you take your negativity away with you. Of course Einstein. It goes without saying. So let's move on. Most of us have been cheated of three productive years - and millions will never be back. Thanks to someone that handed this virus to us on a not so silver platter.

So does this mean the Thais will finally be told to stop masking because they're obviously not going to stop until someone tells them to.

This is actually important and does need to happen.

More authority figures need to come out and tell the Thai people, directly,  it's OK to go without a mask.

It's very clear covid prevention is not the reason they are being worn now ( nor PM 2.5 either, ) and it's getting to the point of absurdity. I think even China is unmasking faster!

Parts of Thailand are stuck in a (not good) time warp, social distancing stickers still all over the condo and in the lifts.............., people on TV still wearing masks or (even worse) the plastic face shields with goggles!

If  they want to wear masks, let them, it is their business and not foreigners place to try to tell them what to do. Personally around Pattaya many seem to have got rid of them anyhow.... still see servers in restaurants wearing them, which I actually like the idea of. (Deters them from picking their noses).

These obsessed people should mind their own business.

This gives me “masks for the help”  vibes and is not something I personally like at all!

I prefer to see the smiles back.
