Daily News Thai Caption: Can we look after him?

Daily News and many other Thai media were reporting that you can keep a lion as a pet in Thailand.

So long as you have the required paperwork and tell the authorities in good time.

Earlier a senior Pattaya policemen, vets and park staff, had been alerted to a foreigner keeping a lion at a housing estate in Nong Prue.

Neighbors were terrified that their children might soon be attacked and eaten by the lion - still actually a cub - that was allowed to prowl round the house.

Following up Daily News referred to a long list of Environment Ministry regulations that were promulgated last year that indeed permitted lion ownership subject to various conditions.

If you already have one you had from last December until March to tell the authorities.

If it was a new lion you could report ownership right away from when the new rules came in.

The bottom line was - with plenty of 555's "ha ha ha's) that you could indeed keep a lion as a pet.

ASEAN NOW wonders if they'd be safer than Pit Bulls....

I would be more terrified that the neighbors would eat it.
