Thai ID card copy for buying a car.

Featured Replies

I'm buying a car registered to a Thai national, she insists I only need one copy of the front of her ID card. Another thread on this forum says you need two copies of both front and back of the ID card. Anyone got a definitive answer please as I hope to do the transfer this week.

Are you sure you want to buy from her if she is not even willing to give you a front and back copy of her ID card (even if it is maybe not necessary)?

Typically a scan of both sides of the ID card on the same page, duly signed by the card holder is what's required. Best to inquire at the land transport office that will be processing the title transfer and confirm what THEY require.

Actually done the deal with her Farang son in law but car is registered in her name............I discovered later I think she wanted a commission for her part in it.

I live in Hua Hin but will change ownership in BKK so to keep the desirable number plate so not really feasible, however I will ask at one of the agents although the one I went to to get a transfer form struggled to understand what I wanted.
