Naew Na reported that a special fast response unit had been set up by Ubon Ratchathani immigration to deal with people sneaking across the border illegally into Thailand.

Main attraction of the unit was a BMW smart car that can race to the scene at the drop of a hat.

The cars were introduced several years ago at great expense. Basically they have an internet connection to enable passports to be checked in situ.

Immigration chief Pol Col Chatchai Samniang asked the public to call 1178.

Then the smart car will race to the scene.

Damn foreigners, why not just stop them coming here altogether!..................Oh! ..................... They have money?

Not going to happen where I live.

The smart car is broken and hasn't moved in at least a couple of years.  It sits under a thick layer of dust.

I could do that with my Smart phone.

was there not a thread a few days ago about how they weren't using these cars etc ?

So a 10 year+ old beaten up BMW smart care will solve the dreadful foreigner problems.....!

Must be faster than a Toyota, Honda, Isuzu or the like I guess.
