As the Claremont Institute launched its new office in Tallahassee last month, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis rolled out the red carpet.

 

DeSantis met with the leadership of the right-wing think tank, posing for pictures. His wife and closest political adviser Casey tweeted out congratulations.

 

The get-together showcased a budding partnership between DeSantis and members of the Claremont Institute, whose leaders are now championing and working with DeSantis.

I really can't see Lake being viable for anything. I think even her most ardent supporter must have tired of her 'I won and that's all there is to see here' approach. She lost so much credibility, that was teetering on negative before the election, and of course she is widely associated with being a Trump wannabe so I think De Santis would give her an extremely wide berth.

The Founding Director  of the Claremont Institutes's Center for Constitutional Jurisprudence is, get this, John Eastman. He also pushed the fake elector scheme and advised the President the Mike Pence had the authority to disqualify electors and and delegate choosing electors back to states where it just happened the Republicans had majorities in the legislature. Not even Trump's own White House Counsel thought this could fly. And he also believes that even though the 14 Amendment specifies persons born in the United States as being citizens, he decided that's not really what it means.
