Scoop: Tucker Carlson ready to torch Fox News

Tucker Carlson is preparing to unleash allies to attack Fox News in an effort to bully the network into letting him work for — or start — a right-wing rival, sources close to him tell Axios.

Bryan Freedman, the high-powered Hollywood lawyer Carlson retained for the contract dispute, told Axios: "The idea that anyone is going to silence Tucker and prevent him from speaking to his audience is beyond preposterous."

Why it matters: Tucker vs. Fox could reshape the conservative news world. Fox, which has seen its ratings plunge in Carlson's slot since he was let go 13 days ago, wants to sideline him by paying him $20 million a year not to work.

So I gathered that you have not stopped watching Fox even after they lose the defamation case for lying and misinformation. No wonder you sound confused.

Who cares. Let both touch themselves to oblivion. USA will be better without both of them.

Fox paid $787.5 million for lying and misinformation. Those stuffs CNN will not mention.

Sucks when you sign an NDA.

And a non-compete.

I think both sides are in a MAD situation (FOX has the stronger position as they have more juicy dirt on Carlson than he has on them), so this will be resolved with a settlement where he gets paid over time, and he can't compete for some epriod of time, 18 - 24 months would be my guess.

I think this story is just Mr. Freedman flexing for his client.

A lot of commentators are claiming that Carlson doesn't have a chance of success without Fox's backing because of what happened in the past. But streaming and alternate networks mean the situation is very different now from what it was just a few years ago. It just depends on how long Carlson's contract has to run or if he can sue his way out of it.

In the time since TC got dumped Megyn Kelly's name has been popping up in the media feeds, coming off just as wacko as in her Fox days.  Maybe she's conspiring to re-join Fox?

Fox and TC in a feces-slinging match?  Bring it on!

Megyn Kelly made the fatal mistake of criticizing Trump publicly and gaining employment from the enemy. Carlson is a lot smarter than that.

I disagree, the USA will be brainwashed without him. He told stuff that CNN certainly wouldn't mention.

America loves a 'persecuted victim' so for my money, Tucker will win this conflict. But $20 a year to sit back and do nothing....that would really tempt me.,

He also told stuff privately that was the opposite of what he said on air.

Freedman is a smart, talented, and vicious lawyer.  He will get what Tucker wants done. Hell, even Don Lemon has retained Freedman for the same reason.

Might take a while, but you will see The Tucker back in media in some form.  Fox is feeling the wrath now of jilted viewers who are going elsewhere, and it isn&t going to improve any time soon.

Related news, I was shocked at listening to the ratings for The Daily Show. In the last season with Jon Stewart in 2015, they averaged 1.3 million views. These days with Trevor Noah, they are down to less than 400,000 and doing even worse in the key demographic group.  I guess talent DOES matter!

Really.  He can speak on Facebook or Instagram anytime he likes.  He can get a job at another news platform likely.

Trevor Noah has been gone from the Daily Show since Dec 9, 2022

Confused?

I don't watch Fox, or CNN.

If you can't see they both are totally biased then not much I can help you with

Not if you were paying his inflated salary. He was getting $16 million a year to tank the ratings of a once very funny show.  Good work if you can get it!

Tucker is desperate to get back on the air because he knows that by 2025, no one will remember his name.  Yesterday's news, has-been, just a pee stain in the bizarro history of conservative news.  But I think you're right, Fox has got him by the gonads.

For sure.  Seems like he would be better serve to work independently. But he has nearly 7 million Twitter followers and was pulling in north of 3 million viewers a night on Fox.  Obviously there is a market for his brand of commentary.  Just a matter of time.

I can live with some bias but not preying on viewers vulnerability with lies and misinformation in order to make money.

Yeah and also his gig at Hosting the 2023 Grammys too was an over payment as well! LOL

One per cent of the population is not what I had ever considered as immpressive but you can think it, so it will be true.

O’Reilly drew in more viewerships at his own peak and was the number one cable show for a long while and he is practically forgotten. Twitter podcast is losing its edge and advertising revenues. It’s hard to sustain interest of listeners. If that is Tucker’s plan, it is a losing proposition. No looking good for Tucker. Fox was his golden goose and he f it up.

Actually, it IS impressive if you know anything about tv ratings and audience share.  Comparable shows in the same time slot were drawing less than half of Tucker's numbers.  You may not like what he says, I get that. But he does have undeniable drawing power. THAT is why so many people here disparage him and pay attention- they are afraid of his reach in the media and hope to silence him.

Bill O was older when he was dropped. He was also embroiled in a very easy to understand scandal (sexual harrassment).  A lot of his viewers rightly were disgusted by his behavior and could see the reason he needed to go. Not so here. Fox is really dropping the ball by the drip drip drip of innuendo and leaks without coming out and saying exactly their reason for cancelling Tucker.  Bill's time was also long before the power of podcasts, independent media, etc.
