We just moved to Uthomphon Pisai from Bangkok as I was finally getting a feel for BKK. Now I am starting all over again and have managed to locate most of the neccecities close to home but I can't find any place within 100 Kilometers that stocks Tonic water consistantly. Tried Big C in Surin 2 times and made out with 4 bottles total and No where in Sisaket so far.... I am sure I am missing the right place, it can't be that difficult to get tonic water.

Oh I would have taken the yellow cans if they were there. They had the soda water (black caps and cans) but none ofe tonic. Is Big C really my best and or only shot? Seems like a long way to go for a crapshoot.

Tescos for Gordons and Schweppes. Sun Hing Plaza (Siaket) do a pretty good immitation gin but no tonic, I buy a slab of tonic and use the Sun Hing gin, gets me by.

My local Mini-Mart (12km is local) sells bread that tastes like cake but they also have the yellow Schweppes cans...... look a little harder, seek and ye shall find :o

I f you are in Si Sa Ket then try a day out in Ubon.

Big C and Tesco's both sell schweppes,in bottles or cans.

Also a couple of smaller wine and spirit shops.

You could ask at the wholesaler on the soi that runs towards Sun Heng Plaza as you look out from Kasikorn Thai Bank. It's on the right side halfway between the tractor shop and the video shop. They seem quite friendly and helpful and may order it in for you if they don’t have it.

There’s also another wholesaler on the corner next to the fire station. I’m not to sure if they stock it and last time I asked they didn’t have diet drinks and weren't interested in getting them in.

There's also a wholeale branch for that big wholesale store thats opposite Wasuda in Ubon. I think the Sisaket branch is near the fresh food market near the railway.

I assume you looked in the 7-11's and the mini mart at Prompiman.

Good news, I hear the big shopping centre at the gate leading to Ubon is going ahead. I don’t know when it'll be finished but it will save a drive to Ubon.

I looked in the one 7-11 that I found as well as all the wholesalers, I never thought to ask them because just a case or 2 at a time would be fine.

Farma do you mean there is more than one 7-11 in Uthomphon? Not having a car going to big C is kinda a big deal for us and so it is heartbreaking when they are out of stock of the main thing we made the trip for in the first place.

Makro in Surin,(bottles & cans) Tesco in Surin( cans), Big C in Surin(bottles & cans) & numerous wine and beer stores in Surin. And if you're still looking, pop into the Farang Connection(also Surin) and I'll let you have some at grossly inflated prices. :o I've got tons of the bloody stuff.

Thanks Lampard, I got my last case in Surin and was hoping to find a supply closer to home but Surin is always there if things get desperate (down to 2 bottles as of last night). Also, to be honest I am just testing this forum to see how many farangs we have out this way in Sisaket and specifically if there are any in my closest town Uthomphon Pisai that are on here and willing to help me find the essentials.

It was bit late when I replied last night. I should have mentioned I was referring to the 7-11’s and other places in Sisaket. There’s no harm in asking the wholesalers if they can get a case or 2 in for you. They can only say no.

I haven’t been to Uthomphon Pisai but found if you ask at some of the local shops they are willing to get stuff in for me. The guy operating grocery shop in Phayu is very helpful.

Good luck with your search.

True enough Farma....they can only say no (or more likely "mai mi" followed by "cannot").

I think need to keep pestering the local shops until they realize it is easier to order for me than to make me go away :o That way when I finally do get a sorce I can use it again and again without a making it a major event. As long as they stock some Schweps products then I assume they should be able to order anything from the catalog.

Another good source of local info on Sisaket is Frank at “Livin in the past” in Sisaket. He has a good Sisaket map posted (post #40) in the pinned map topics at the top of the Issan forum.

It’s worth dropping into Franks place for a chat, make yourself known and meet some of the locals. Guys drop in from all over the district. There's also a few guys who regularly have a beer and a chat at the food market in the evenings. They can be found sitting behind the ATM across from the 7-11.

Thanks again Farma, that map is what I have really been looking for! It only takes about 25 minutes to get to Sisaket from here on a motorbike so until we get a car Sisaket is much more do-able then Surin and now I have a way to navagate it.
