Violence continued in the southernmost provinces on Friday, after a bomb killed a ranger and seriously injured three others.

The attack took place in Ban Ngokapo village in the Bannang Sata district of Yala province, about 500 meters from Ban Taopoon School, which is set to be a polling station for this Sunday’s general election.

Eight rangers were patrolling in the area when the device exploded, killing ranger Chief Sgt Sommai Naksuebwong and seriously injuring three others.

And they wonder why investment in the southern regions is lacking?

Sad news again. Hopefully this will all stop one day insha Allah.

1) That will be at the same time, when easter and whitsun are on the same day.

2) It will only happen when the southern provinces go back to Malaysia, again nr 1 is active.

And of course you start your acting with bismillah, then all is ok.

Who says Malaysia wants them? Malaysia has problems enough with conservative Islam in it's PAS voting northern states.

Who says Thai Malays wish to be part of Malaysia? Back in 2006 when the National Reconciliation Commission reported there was no desire for independence or separation from Thailand, just that Yawi be recognised as an official language, that Sharia courts be allowed to settle religious and family matters, the establishment of an unarmed peace keeping force, and a strategic administration center for the development of the Pattani States.

Stay away from islam!

A personal solution, but not one that addresses the issue of the southern conflict.

They don't want peace.  They want to continue violence and killing rangers.  What good is destroying phone towers going to do except hinder locals wanting to call.  Pathetic idiots   !!       shoot them imo.

The solution is a very hard crack down, it's all that would work, close radical mosques (most) Islamic schools and offer large rewards for turning terrorists in as well as the death penalty for any terrorist act, fund raising for it or support.  Appeasement will never work. They think like their founder they will be victorious with terror, they have to be shown they will not be.

and tell them why the crack down .... tell them if they integrate and stop violence then friendship will ensure.  Tell them they are idiots to keep the violence continiously going ...

You are right, those provinces dont want to go back, instead they want, "Bersatu would be willing to soften its previous demands for an independent state" ,a caliphate. So own sate was a demand.

Further I read suppression by Thai government, violence by that government, corruption, drugs and oil smuggling.

The rise of militants and jihadist and the violence from that group. Al Qaida connections.

Well just an average day on planet earth. Seems Thailand is just one of those countries with the same problems as many other countries.

It would have been better, Thailand not to have those provinces in the past.

Just wait for the AGI and then we have totally other problems. Father AI is already in progress everywhere, now wait for the son.

Freedom of religion and of education? That's something no one should want to abolish.

There should be no freedom for hate preachers, terrorists or those brainwashing kids

But how do you distinguish those from the 'good' ones? Most Islamic schools, pondoks and mosques teach and preach good values and not hatred.

No they don't, Islam was spread by conquest and the Prophet is quoted in Bukhari as stating he was made victorious (over Meccans) with terror. Good values what are they? it's intolerant, supremacist, mysoginist and anti LGBT. The only good thing is they are also anti dogs! You can always find early suras like let there be no compulsion in religion etc but all abrogated by later intolerant violent ones.

Do you live among Muslims? I do, and I have never experienced any animosity, nor do I feel danger as a Christian. Only respect and understanding.

All my friends are Malay Muslims and so are my colleagues. Please don't let your preconceptions cloud your judgment. Most Muslims wish to lead normal lives and do not desire acts of terror or forced conversions of non-believers or people of The Book (Christians and Jews).

Sure, there are always extremists, but you can also find Christian, Buddhist, Zionist or Hindu extremists in lots of places.
