How do you feel about the results?

 

Eurovision 2023 Final: Sweden’s Loreen Makes History in Stunning Fashion – Rolling Stone

 

I got started very late this year checking out the songs and only a very few really made an impression.

 

Sweden of course. Also France, Israel, and Finland.

 

I think Sweden was undeniable (second time Loreen won!), but I was surprised that France didn't do better. Israel's song grew on me with multiple watches but I was surprised it did as well as it did, even to the point of sort of being a contender. The Finland song I do get the appeal but it didn't do it for personally. Italy which did very well wasn't even on my radar.

Does Germany have the equivalent of the UK TV licence?  

 

If one watched Eurovision live in the UK, then legally they require a TV licence. We unsubscribed from the TV licence about four years ago and never looked back.

Russians bomb home of this years Ukrainian Eurovision contestants.

 

Based on their votes, they didn't need any help bombing.

 

Russia seems schizoid about Eurovision. They don't agree with Eurovision human rights values but it also kind of seems they're pissed off that they aren't invited and it's hard to imagine when they will be, if ever, welcome again.
