Phuket – About a 1,000 meter long fishing net was removed from a coral reef underwater in the Phuket sea.

The Phuket Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) told the Phuket Express that on Monday (May 29th) they and volunteer divers inspected the underwater area at the Racha Noi Island in Rawai.

The inspection followed after they received a complaint from the ‘MONSOON GARBAGE THAILAND’ Facebook page earlier this week.

Damned fishermen, leaving their nets behind.

Hope no fish were "touched" or coral damaged by this 1000m long net. National Park bods must be in a frenzy

Most likley foreign tourists . I often wonder what they carry in those knapsacks. A kilometer of fishing net.......Worse, they have been replacing genuine coral with artificial coral. ????

A kilometre net ain’t a tourist. Should be a firing squad for cutting off a net.
