I know a few folks who retired to Florida from California. Because of the growing dissension in Florida they are selling up and moving to Montana.

The clip shows 7 idiots in Florida, I'd guess every state has idiots of every flavor. Hardly a reason to move. My home base is Ca. just because it's governed by idiots I still like Ca.

When the two frontrunners for the Republican presidential primary have total support from Nazis and white supremacists, one does have to wonder what the GOP stands for anymore.

There are still remnants of the old GOP but it is now totally dominated by the Maga fascists. There is nothing to wonder about. The GOP has become a pro fascist party. Will it ever backtrack from that and how long will it take? Impossible to say. I don't think that party deserves to even survive. It should go the way of the Know Nothing Party.

Hopefully you'll stop being so disingenuous and acknowledge that calling the GOP maga party a fascist party is not saying they are mostly literal Nazis. Of course they aren't. I think you well understand that you don't need to be a literal Nazi to be a fascist. Like DeSantis.

When your a married gay/lesbian couple, as my friends are, and the homophobia and attacks upon you are becoming more and more unbearable, would  you stay.  It is not just a few idiots, Desantis has turned the schools into an unfriendly learning environment where parents are being pitted against each other.  California has always been open and welcoming to most folks, rarely do you see the type of attacks which are occurring.  You can thank San Francisco for assisting California get on the board and stay on the board as far as the far as the LGBTQ community.

July 1, That is the day a slate of new laws signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis targeting the LGBTQ community take effect. Doctors will be allowed to deny care based on their moral beliefs. The use of preferred pronouns will be banned in public schools. And children will be barred from attending drag shows, among other measures. One law that prohibits gender-affirming health care for transgender people under the age of 18 is already being enforced.

Ben Poppe, with the ADL's Center on Extremism, wrote the report. He said what makes the increase in Florida extremism stand out from the overall rise in hate across the country is that Florida extremists are now coordinating with each other.

And, Poppe said, they are even touting the Sunshine State as a great place to relocate your hate.

"They actually created Florida propaganda posters saying the state of hate needs you and advertising to other extremists to move to Florida,” Poppe said. “They're trying to make Florida a place where this kind of thing is acceptable and to center their activities in the state."

With all that is happening in Florida, why not move and be safe.

DeSantis is on record as saying his presidential campaign is about making America Florida. He must be defeated as must the grand maga poobah Citizen Trump.

There is nothing anti-gay in any of the laws in Florida. They are almost exclusively designed to protect children and to safeguard parental rights.

California may seem to be "open and welcoming", but it is bleeding population every year. Net decline of more than 800,000 people in two years according to;

https://calmatters.org/newsletters/whatmatters/2023/02/california-population-exodus-housing/

Florida? The fastest growing state with 700,000 new arrivals in the same time span.

https://www.voanews.com/a/7002666.html#:~:text=Florida is the fastest-growing,beaches%2C now tops 22 million.

So you tell me which is actually the most "welcoming".

As for the pseudo-nazi protesters, they are nothing. Ignore them and they will go away. Pay attention and they win.

He will try and roll back all of the laws allowing lives to be equal, we will end up back in the era before Dr. Martin Luther King if they have there way.  All of these new laws and rights were fought for by the people who want the US to have equality for all and the freedoms to go with that equality.  Yes there should be laws in place which prohibit certain things.  Racism, Bigotry and Anti LGBTQ rhetoric and laws have no place in the US let alone the world.

I think that's a bit much. I am no fan of De Santis but I can't see actions or treatments of blacks and others as that extreme or leading back to the pre Martin Luther King times.  The laws relating to LGBT stuff are a concern in terms of some books and teachers having to be careful about what they say but in my opinion you can disagree with his take on things without suggesting he is sending LGBT people back to some 1950's world where they have no rights at all.

Its a worrying trend, not confined to the groups above.

'This is neo-Nazi ideology on display': Is Florida in danger of being taken over by the far-right?

Just a short drive from Disney World, a far-right group harassed Jewish worshippers leaving a synagogue, hurling antisemitic abuse at them through a megaphone. It leaves observers asking, does Florida have a neo-Nazi problem?

Orlando has been hit by a rash of antisemitic incidents, with Florida becoming, according to one expert, "ground zero for the extreme right-wing".

In Florida, far-right groups look to seize the moment

This demonstration might not seem like much, but for these far-right groups, it's a way to punch above their weight and get noticed.

"What we're really going for is people putting it on social media and spreading it around and pushing the conversation in the public arena," Nunes says.

Florida Neo-Nazis Find Anti-Drag Mania Is a Recruitment Tool

A neo-Nazi group in Florida says the right-wing hysteria about drag performances has been an effective recruitment tool.

“What we have seen is certain types of activism definitely gets interest and recruitment up. And that’s where like the drag queen <deleted> — like everybody wants to be a part of the team shutting that down,” Josh Nunes, leader of National Socialist Florida, recently told NPR.

Well if your political talking points are attracting literal neo-Nazis, then you should really start thinking about what you are pushing for

Yeah, but I think DeSantis is smart enough to rebuff their support if asked. Trump would say -- some of them are good people.
