Korean Air on a mission in North Thailand

SEOUL, 16 June 2023: Korean Air’s volunteer team visited Chiang Dao in far north Thailand from 8 to 13 June to conduct volunteer activities, including road paving projects and introducing Korean traditional culture to residents.

Chiang Dao is a hill-country district located 2,100 metres above sea level in Thailand’s Chiang Mai province. Villages in the region lack basic infrastructure such as electricity, water, medical services and educational facilities for children.

During their visit, Korean Air’s volunteers paved lanes in the local village using concrete to help prevent accidents caused by poor road conditions. They also painted the exterior walls of old buildings.

What a poor article. Chiand Dao is not 2100m above see level. The main mountain, called Doi Luang, is culminating at 2200m but Chiang Dao town must be around 400m above see level, for sure less "selling" altitude than 2100m.

Secondly, there are very few villages nowadays without electricity if any. I ride enduro and mtb and power poles are a way to keep on roads that lead somewhere. Even completely lost in the forest, you'll find some power poles at a crossings that will lead you to the next village. Same goes with paved roads, 15 years ago as soon as you would leave the main road (the 107), you would be on dirt. Not anymore today, road have been paved (mostly concrete) widely.

For tourist advertising, the article gives Chiang Dao that wild aspect but disappointment might show up quickly. Come see by yourself ????
