We should also take notice of not just who produces fake news, but who tends to believe it. I recall reading an article about fake news trolls in Macedonia who had zero political leanings. They produced fake news for money and in 2016, pushed stories that supported both Hillary and Trump. But the fake news that helped Trump were much more likely to be believed and shared.
