This sounds like very good news for the Cuban people.

 

Cuban food is not so hot.

Lots of black beans, and more black beans, and maybe some plantains thrown in, and then some mystery meat they call a "steak".

In my view, China is moving its forces into Cuba as a gesture of its benevolent soft-power policy.

 

The US turned it's back on Cuba when Castro wanted to make friends.

 

It's been a very long time that Cuba has been subsisting on black beans, rice and bananas, driving 1950s automobiles.

 

No doubt, the Cuban people will welcome this Chinese fostered improvement to their customary diet.

 

Cubans love spicy food, anyway.

The entire region is seen by the USA as part of the United States.

 

Any encroachment by China will never be tolerated.

That’s right. The Chinese built the Great Wall to keep the Mongols out. They had no intention to invade Mongolia. To the best of my knowledge, other than border issues, China never invaded any country far from its borders. The only Chinese invasion that I know of was the Sino-Vietnamese war but that was in response to Vietnam’s invasion and occupation of Cambodia. Even then, China withdrew its troops once its objective was achieved, within about a month, if memory serves.

 

This is unlike US occupation of Afghanistan of 20 years, occupation of Iraq, Syria… one gets the idea.

 

A country with a history of peace and one with a history of war. The latter sails its warships and flies its warplanes thousands of kilometres from its shores. Yet it claims the other is a global threat. Hilarious really.

No its not the countries, but the people "running" it, the system they are working in.

In 15 years im probably dead and China doesnt matter in it, they are the same as any other country. Im now more worried about USA (system) influence. They try to make a global (USA) system working, but it is always the same, their own gain on costs of others.

EU system, dont like it. "My" country system it is a crying shame.

In my opinion, it’s not about intelligence gathering at all. China has all the intelligence they need about the US. It’s about showing the US that what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.. It’s about China telling the US that it is not afraid and will not be bullied. It’s about telling the US that if it continues to arm Taiwan, then China will arm Cuba. I think that it's more symbolic than really useful. They want to show they are able to replucate what the U.S. Is doing in Taiwan.

However, the last thing Cuba may want is a conflict with the U.S. Cuba is also playing its own game.

Actually (shock)I agree with you on normalizing relations with Cuba they are much to close of a neighbor to be quarreling with also I think the Cubans would prefer a more open relationship and economy they after a good taste of prosperity they would dump the dictatorship and evolve towards democracy.that would have most likely allready happened if Trump didn’t screw things up.also please don’t try to (label) me or my sources of information as extreme left it is akin to me saying that you love only right wing hate misinformation
