What is "unexplained and suspicious" about this death?

The heartbroken family of a loving, larger-than-life Australian teenager is currently engaged in a poignant mission to repatriate his body after his suspicious death in Thailand.

Death Island strikes again .....  nothing mentioned on exactly what happened so to me that immediately raises yet another Koh Tao red flag.       Such a cheerful looking young man ...

Repeating the op saying 'suspicious' doesn't explain why it is suspicious.

And not repeating it doesn't mean it's not - suspicious.

the family is still seeking more information about the events leading to Talbot’s death.

Regretably, probably not from the local Koh Tao police or Governing "mafia". CCTV and possible DNA evidence now missing??? No autopsy report mentioned.

RIP, very saddening.

Koh Tao in the spotlight again. Whatever the truth may be, there's definitely something sinister about the place.

Murders and suicides all over. Maybe some are suss but not all are.

I agree,

However I was answering another poster. He seems to feel all Koh Tao deaths and rapes have been adequately explained away by the alleged ' authorities ' I don't think that would be his viewpoint if it was one of his family involved in one of these mishaps.

Those were the headline words not my words as the poster implied. The results of why it is suspicious haven't been explained as yet and we need to watch and await the updates.

By the way, it is suspect TO ME, as the family are not getting the answers as yet that they need.

Judging on past performance and the history of Koh Tao, they have a right to be suspicious. I was going to say, ' I would be suspicious ' but I wouldn't because I would not allow my sons to travel there. I believe it is unsafe especially for the young and carefree.

There have been too many rapes, murders, accidents and things too quickly resolved and brushed under the carpet by an inept police force, yet some on here try to justify the actions of the Thai police, even though they are known as one of the most corrupt police forces on the planet.

I also firmly believe that there are two Burmese innocent men in Bang Kwang that were framed to suit the Thai police version of events and not damage their so called ' tourist image ' but that's another story.

So sad.

I dunno why people come here for tourism.

To Tao or Thailand? Thailand is awesome overall.

Too late bignok. The jumping, or rather pole vaulting, began at the words death and Koh Tao..

To be fair there is a pattern here? This is not the first mysterious death there?

I think i'm right in saying that a second autopsy can be carried out as a matter of urgency on request in Thailand at a selected hospital of your choice providing you pay the costs.

Now if you had any doubt regarding the accuracy of the first autopsy surely one would want a second opinion.

Just sayin like......

Yes I believe you can, but the first one will be done at the police forensic dept. in BKK AFAIK

Regretably,  with no mention of what happened is a red flag.  Is someone trying to get their story aligned.  Koh Tao is not called Death Island for no reason.

very tragic for Daniel and his family.

our thoughts & prayers are with you at this sad time.

RIP Daniel ...

Maybe family want the cash to keep coming IMO. For example if he died from self abuse to much booze then sympathy for the GF page may stop. Just pointing out possibilities.

The Authorities first have to talk to the head man and formulate an excuse for this young lads death. Most likely an Accident but they need to make it believable like Carbon Monoxide poisoning. A quick autopsy to let you think its been looked into and hey were smelling like roses again case closed.

yes I thought of that Brian, however it's unlikely that happened as they can't suppress all the news channels and media,  hence I doubt that's what is happening.    My guess is as I mentioned ... someone has to make sure their stories align and on the same page.  just saying.

Well someone is suppressing something steve, to get a death cert. an autopsy would be required, and his Embassy would/should know how he died.

Even so, let's all scream "Suspicious death, again...Death Island!" with no justification whatsoever.

Doesn't seem like we have the same eerie mystery and ominous sense of danger when someone mentions Koh Chang or Samet though do we?

That's because the other islands don't have the same dark history of mysterious, unexplained and ongoing deaths.

This is Thailand-you want a nice pretty death certificate, no problem - my friend Somchai can arrange that quite cheaply.

Just because they say they think it is suspicious when they know nothing about the circumstances doesn't mean that it is...they're scrounging money, remember!   Their opinion from Australia is irrelevant until the investigation into his death has been completed.

How could you know that?

What makes you claim that it is mysterious?

What are you talking about?  Where has that been reported?

I'm still waiting for anyone to be specific about "all these unexplained deaths".

Stupid remark, i may also point out the death  has to be recorded at the Amphur where he lived before any cremation/burial can take place.
