With the constant price dropping, a TV is now a disposable item for me.  I buy a new one about every 3 years.  If the old one's still working well, which it usually is, then it gets given to a relative.

I even saw a 75" demonstration model for 9,999 baht at our local PowerBuy.

Or a "virgin" one from their website...

Does Panasonic make their TVs?

Where you think other brands make their TVs ?!!!
Samsung TV picture is great, but unfortunately the circuit design especially power section has a bad history.

It doesn't matter where TV's are made , more important is who makes them and what sort of quality control and design input does the Brand retain exampleWho Makes Sony TVs?

Who Makes Sony TVs?

The multinational conglomerate Sony Corporation makes Sony TVs.

Sony Corporation is known for its electronics products, including televisions, which are often recognized for their quality and innovative features.

The company manufactures its TVs as well as outsources some of its production to third-party manufacturers under strict quality control guidelines. However, Sony retains full control over the design, development, and marketing of its products.

Wait till 8/8 some good deals on LG/Samsung. Avoid the CCP's TCL.

Problem with that statement is not everyone agrees with

rtiings a Canadian web site rates TCL tv's as quite high

Warranty is very important, as many of these TVs can die after a few years.  Some brands, such as Sony, give 3 years while  others, like LG, only one year.

The when it comes to OLED  vs LCD  you should know that OLED performs  better in dark environments and has the drawback of a shorter life time. While LCD with full array backlight come very close to OLED an can be viewed in brighter rooms.

Yes, I forgot to mention that. Samsung gave a 3-year warranty on the 85" QLED TV, but the only way to activate it was via a LINE page. there was no paper warranty to mail. Naturally, the page is all in Thai with no option to switch to English. I soldiered through and completed it as best I could, then submitted it, but never heard anything from them. A few weeks later I was passing Home Pro where I'd bought the TV so I stopped and asked the salesman to have a look. He did, I'd apparently filled in the wrong TV ID number at some stage and so the process hadn't worked, but he was successful. The only problem was that since it had been more than 3 weeks since I bought the TV, Samsung would no longer honour the 3-year warranty and instead just gave me a 1-year one. Really? A delay of a few weeks in registration because of your rubbish registration system, and you cut off two years of warranty? OK, so fork you Samsung, if you want to play it that way then I'll simply never buy one of your flaky products again.

I bought a 75" Samsung UHD from Power Buy about a week ago.  Paid 16794 THB.

For that price even if it only lasts 1 or 2 years it's a bargain.

I have 2 Hisense 4K TVs and a Hisense fridge.

Everything is working great.

Bought on Lazada from the Hisense store.

Hisense prices are very competitive.

Worth checking out.

I read here that some of you take a USB drive to the store to test the tv ?

Do they just let you stick a USB drive in the tv ?

Just regular mp4/mkv video files (264-265) ?

I have not watched live tv for 15 years , I do not have a tv , but thinking of buying one to watch movies/series from the computer , so just using it as a big monitor.

Does this mean I do not need to connect the computer (via HDMI , DP , USB3) , but just put the files on a USB drive and the tv has a player that plays these files ?

What about overscan when used as a monitor ?

When you buy one of these cheaper ones (10k-20k or discounted) at bigc, homepro, global house , makro or dedicated appliance store, they give you the showroom model ?

Those big ones like 55 - 75 inch are on a stand . How stable are they when a cat leans on the front or back ?

I doubt those cheaper ones have gorilla glass , so can cleaning the screen , or cat claws damage the screen ?

Yes.  Unless you deal with a sleepy staff member. I use a fast moving sports video of about 480p. And compare how clear and smooth things look.

What do you mean : sleepy ? Lazy ?

So tv's these days have their own USB input and player ?

No need for apps like MPC-BE , KMP or Potplayer , or are they build-in .

Yes.  Using the remote and menus should be able to select the file on usb.  No extra stuff needed. I would be surprised if any new tv today couldn't play a usb file.

As a "value conscious" buyer I'm very happy with the 65" TCL I got last month.  It was the cheapest 4K HDR I could find that had Android OS (Google TV).

I paid 12,200 for the 65".  They do a 75" version but that's about 50% more expensive.

It's QLED (not OLED) but the blacks are darker than any other LED TV or monitor I've had, although I've never seen an OLED in real life to compare.

I got it from TCL official store on Lazada.  Price changes pretty much every day  depending on what voucher or sale available...
