When I retire in 10 years, I'd like to work part time as a Tuk Tuk driver.

More to socialise than the money.

I can do this as I'm naturalized.

My question, would tourists, expats, Thais choose a 6'4 farang to drive them around?

Believe it or not, I’ve never had the pleasure of hopping in a tuktuk and don’t ever intend to either because they’re so loud, most of them have loud fart cans attached to the tail pipe. Just curious, what model were of tuktuk were you thinking of driving? You may fit right in a be well accepted with the tuktuk crowd with one those loud fart cans, though I have no clue what the tuktuk etiquettes are????

I do hope you are posting about being driven around town/city in a Tuk Tuk, rather than being driven sexually mad by the height/size of the driver!

Yea the first.

Size doesn't matter, it's all in how you drive to Tuk Tuk

whats the difference?

One is born here and is of superior stock.
The other is a dirty foreigner, always and forever, regardless of passport.

You obviously have no clue how the law works here.

Once you get that blue ID card you are entitled to all the same rights as a thai that was born in country.

You sound completely misguided and totally out of touch with reality.

you would have to talk to the transport department to find out where you are permitted to work from and what area you can cover ....  I don't know if tuk tuks are mafia controlled but it's likely possible,  if that's the case you would be playing with fire to go out on your own to operate.

wait ......   i have to get another drink ...  !

I don't want to ride in a tuk tuk regardless of who is driving and I sure would not ride in one that might rub other drivers the wrong way and in up in the middle of a baseball bat fight.

Yes if you give a guided tour and be fair with prices.

In order to LEGALLY drive customers you'd have to drive a tuk tuk with public transport plates (yellow). And in order to LEGALLY guide tourists you'd have to take a tour guide course and become a certified tour guide.

Yeah, kinda like some restaurants have a "No Cannabis" in the soup sign, you could have a "No Yaa Baa" sign for the people who don't want a tweeker taking them around at 100km/hour weaving in and out of traffic. ????

IF you're going to do it, do it right. Build it like a dune buggy (fast, fun and comfortable) and decorate it like a PI Jeepny (<-sp) then add sponsor banners from the top Muey Thai and MMA training gyms. (it'll give the "competition" pause) ????:wai:

post pics when you start

There's gotta be better ways to socialize than being a taxi driver, I'm not suggesting other tuk tuk drivers will attack you with a machete, but I'd bet money some will see you as a farang that's taking money away from them.  You could try to be a tour guide, hotel concierge, advertise as a private driver for hire, tourist police volunteer, etc.
