The Brits were drunk and stupid , definitely needed removing . Bouncers as usual here went too far , surprised other locals didn’t jump in with the head kicks.  Bouncers should hope the Brits don’t have plenty of  money . As I recall many moons ago some bouncers doing a similar thing to a tourist who had money to burn….

Unfortunately not a sure thing that it's lesson learned for them. They are well into adulthood, they have almost certainly done stuff like this before, and they still haven't learned their lesson.

Never saw why anyone would go there in the first place. Lots of lights, and hookers. If you had a couple of weeks in Thailand and women is what you want, then that is not the place to be for sure. Fun to look as a tourist.  That is about it.

As far as this goes they were probably drunk and touched a hooker..

The article clearly states that the father slap occurred AFTER his son was beaten, but just about everyone here has stated that was the act that incited the beating shown in the video. I also struggle to understand how anyone can defend the group beating and kicking by a security team who should be employed to defuse rather than inflame situations. Sure dad and his son may have acted obnoxiously to be kicked out, but that does not excuse the out of control and cowardly actions of the bouncers. Anyone who considers this kind of violence acceptable in the context needs to re-examine their own moral values. Thai bar and security staff thrive on using violence on foreigners when they are given an opening through circumstances. These guys should be charged by police for abusing the role for which they are paid.

These people should not be bouncers.  Security staff should be licenced and have a criminal record check, and an incident like this should result in them losing their licence and not working in security anymore.

Fact is, Thais get ripped off by Thais more often and far worse than so called Farang. They get beaten, injured and killed by Thais proportionately in much greater numbers than foreigners. I am absolutely certain that Thais treat us better just because they could potentially get in more trouble simply because a 500b fine and a wai does not cut it with most Westerners. We also fight back. Culturally a night and day.

You seem to have a thing for foreigners getting punished. I'm guessing, as has been said earlier, that this will be a black mark against Thai tourism no matter who started it. What happened after that little slap, and before to the son, will be passed on to every friend and relative of expats that live here. That goes for everything else, and it hurts relations regarding tourists, who spend a lot of money here, A sour taste has been in a lot of mouths for many years regarding Thailand.  These kind of incidents, along with the idiot foreigners that killed the German man, and the deaths at the islands, the unsafe driving daily here, and all the rest of the information from forums such as these only hurts their economy. Prejudice never works in a positive manner, and tourism will lose money, along with expats moving from here.

I had always thought the kicking in the head was so you don't have to go around looking over yur shoulder. It usually is a last resort to do violence so make it count, I think is the thinking.

The bouncers sent a message that no one <deleted> with them. The bar owner is confident he is employing the right staff, the bar girls feel safer,  and now people will think twice about making a problem there.
