He doesn't need to come into contact. The threat and capability of carrying it out is assault. It's a common misunderstanding of the law.

The post about assaulting the angry tourist denied boarding shows a lack of knowledge of Thai Style and Thai Culture.   The man clearly required help.  Thinking assaulting someone at an elevated agitated and emotional state is a last result.

This is eastern culture.  Causing the Asian person to lose face or assaulting him at a large airport with international people sends the wrong message to the world.

That's nonsense. They would have done what any sensible police would have done - taken the skateboard off him (which would have been easy) and handcuffed him, afterwhich they could have had their "conversation" in a private room.

Iam living for 23 years in Thailand  but i never have seen like this and its probably because this happened on the airport. Normally this Chinese man should have been arrested interrogated and then blacklisted for at least 1 year. 

Because this is not acceptable to act like he did

Thai cops are the best at showing restraint.  Americans know what would happen to that guy, especially if it was the LAPD or the LASD.  He would dead.

From the video, it doesn't look like restraint to me, looks like poor training and confusion. 

 

Is this guy free to come back? Should be facing a 3-5 year ban at minimum.

Why?  He didn't break any Chinese laws.  Nothing expected from the Chinese authorities, unless Thailand contacts them, but highly unlikely.  If Thailand wanted to prosecute, he'd been in jail now.

The police showed way too much restraint. People like these need to be put in their place, especially when they're attacking police officers. Their colleague could've been seriously injured.

I lost respect for the 3 cops. It was pathetic display of incompetence. They allowed him to keep swinging his scateboard at them when it would have been a piece of cake to take it off him, put him in an armlock and march him out of there. Those cops need to go back to training.

Not really.  I lived in China for a decade, speak more of a southern dialect of Mandaran.  This fellow is from Shaanxi, where the local version of Mandarin is, how you say, unique.

 

I watched the video yesterday.  The audio was rather poor, and I couldn't make out much of what the man said.  I was guessing it was some version of Cantonese.
