I don't find the songs depressing at all. Quite the opposite in fact. I guess it depends on your mindset...

Well they split up not long after that.

And your taste in music. A good Gilbert & Sullivan is more uplifting than Morrissey.

He was famous due to band. 

 

U2 and Springsteen 100x better.

But their music will be remembered far past Morrissey's.
