Yeah, better to spend your money on cheap hotels in one horse towns and then claim it's as good as a villa in Tuscany.

Morrissey is a genius.

Rather go see The Cure. The Smiths were like a poor man's Cure to me.

I was looking for a job and then I found a job...and heaven knows I'm miserable now

That's how I felt in my first job with a bank

Loved the Smiths but didn't care for the solo stuff.

The Cure were a decent band but The Smiths were legendary. Morrissey and Marr. Incredible.

Legendary?

I felt so many good British bands lost it or broke up mid to late eighties

New Order

The Smiths

Echo and the Bunnymen

The Cure

British music not the same till Blur, Pulp, Supergrass of Britpop

There are some better, some worse. Morrissey, for me, bottom half. Really depressing songs.

Was great in the 80s

Last time see him was Free GLC gig in Westminster London about 1984.

Would not bother now days.

But if Sham 69 did BKK, i would go.

Hurry up Harry.

Some truly awful choices in that list.

No accounting for taste I guess.

Most people forgot The Smiths after 1985. Depressing downbeat music.

I don't find the songs depressing at all. Quite the opposite in fact. I guess it depends on your mindset...

Well they split up not long after that.

But hardly forgotten.

PS the thread is about Morrissey, not The Smiths... Quite different. Like comparing Ian Brown's solo stuff to The Stone Roses.

And your taste in music. A good Gilbert & Sullivan is more uplifting than Morrissey.
