Boonanan Patanasin, president of the Pattaya Business and Tourism Association, highlighted that Chinese tourists are still the primary travelers to the city of Pattaya.

He noted that the current tourism scenario in Pattaya predominantly revolves around Chinese tourists, though their numbers have decreased due to stricter visa regulations and limited flight options, reported INN.

Compared to the pre-pandemic period, the influx of Chinese tourists has diminished by around 40%. Most Chinese tourists visiting now are Free Independent Travelers (FIT), who tend to have higher spending capacity. However, group tours still account for approximately 40% of the total.

In contrast to popular destinations like Phuket or Chiang Mai, where direct flights contribute to higher Chinese tourist numbers, Pattaya's U-Tapao Airport offers limited flights. Many Chinese tourists are staying in accommodations like Pullman Pattaya Hotel G and other Chinese-owned hotels.

Though there's been a noticeable decrease in Chinese tourist arrivals compared to previous years, Pattaya still sees more Chinese visitors than some other tourist destinations.

Chinese tourists, whether arriving in groups or as FIT, significantly stimulate Pattaya's local economy, making them a crucial demographic for the city's tourism sector.

They are certainly key components of the Thai coach industry and all its related garages and workshops.

Out in Pratamnak I don't see any Chinese tourists. Maybe their coaches, but that's it. Same in Jomtien on my brief visits. Where have all the Chinese gone? And Russians. Very few of them around now. The Russian bike rental shop I use as a gauge is chockers with unhired bikes. In fact, all I see are Indians and Middle Eastern folk. 4 to a bird and 3 to a bike. And loathed by all the working girls.

That's what you do? You conduct surveys of working girls? Which tourists are they most fond of?
