Popular Post tanner
returned to UK in March this year, glad to escape the heat, hate the long flights and airport hassle plus the regular fiasco at Jomtien immigration. But miss my wonderful Thai lady and feel I'm letting her down because I've decided not to go back, she lives and works in Sattahip, not many farangs there so doubt she'll find a replacement!. I'm 88 years old in 2 weeks so sadly it's head over heart !!. would like to hear comments. 2 1

Popular Post Dan O
Hard decision to make but you have to weigh all the factors pro and con and make the choice thats best. You don't mention how long your together with the lady or the deciding factors of why your not going back. If its due to advanced age, have you thought of bringing her with you? Plus for her going as she knows you and could (I hope) help take care of you. 2

bunnydrops
Soon to hate the cold and damp? I know a guy from the UK that has told me a number of times he isn't coming back. So far he always has. Now he says he won't be going back to the UK. Time will tell.
Popular Post KhunLA
Lucky her, as I'm thinking she's far better off without you. Replacing you should be easy & pleasurable. Popular Post Fat is a type of crazy
Depending on how long you’ve been with her and your financial situation you could consider leaving her something in your will and letting her know. Make you feel good and her feel good about the relationship you have had. 4 1 1 4

Indeed it is... particularly when age is married with the lack of medical care here at that age unless paying extortionate premiums for insurance. One of the things which may prevent me from living here well into old age is the absence of reasonably priced medical care - insurance premiums for the over 70's is huge. If someone has a secret, please let me know !!!... I wonder how closely the Op looked at brining his partner to the UK. OR, is he a realist and knows that her status may prevent such travel. Its an awful decision to have to make - leaving someone he cares about, I'm sure it was a significantly more difficult decision than some of the insulting and flippant comments suggest. 1 6 1

Assume - thats all you have done there. Did you assume that the op needs medical care which cannot be provided here in Thailand ? No... you've allowed your negative bias to influence your thoughts and the project your negative hyperbolae. The Op made it clear that he had to make a decision with his head rather than follow his heart... that already sounds tough. 1 1 1

Replacing you should be easy & pleasurable. and this one is obviously referring to the fact the guy has just gone home and left her to fend for herself, long distance relationships are possible even at 88 and clearly the guy is not in a position to continue to support her financially so the poor lady may be better off finacially with someone else. you are assuming the guy is a saint, i dont see any toxicity in those comments 1 1

Get some new aircons, and make use of early morning and late evenings for exercise or gardening or whatever else you do. Invest in your castle if you haven't already - so many people here just don't, get a nice sofa, a reading chair, decent furniture, make a hobby room etc.. - meet a few people staying in 7k / month condos with back breaking furniture but sitting on empty 250-500k gbp properties in the UK, madness. Immigration is something we all have to do, just do it, and moan about it tomorrow, use an agent if you want to make it easy. Aside from healthcare I can't see what the UK will offer you that's so good to leave it all behind. 1 3

The one I am talking about is also over 80. I am mid 70's and have been spending half my time in Thailand and the US. This is planned to be my last year to return to the US. Not a easy decision. I'm on fixed income. The cost to live in the US is really high. Just looking at menu prices from 3 years ago, now twice as high. Food from the market at least 50% higher. 1
