Xi Jinping invites Srettha to Beijing for economic talks as he finalises his new cabinet lineup

New Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin takes up the reins on Friday as he finalises his cabinet lineup which is expected to be sworn in by Monday, September 11th next. At a meeting on Tuesday, the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand, Mr Han Zhiqiang, extended an invitation to Mr Srettha to visit China and discuss closer economic collaboration with President Xi Jinping.

 

New Prime Minister, Srettha Thavisin, is promising to move swiftly to lower energy costs when the new cabinet is sworn in over the coming days with controversies already developing over key Pheu Thai appointments. Mr Srettha is scheduled to visit the United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 19th.

Thailand’s new Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin was invited by China’s President Xi Jinping this week to visit Beijing as he prepares to finalise his cabinet which is expected to be sworn in by September 11th.

 

Thursday was the last day at Government House for outgoing Prime Minister Prayut Chan Ocha with Mr Srettha now taking up the reins ahead of his government being officially sworn in before an audience with His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn. 

 

On Friday, Mr Srettha Thavisin begins his tenure at Government House as Thailand’s 30th Prime Minister and is expected to unveil his new cabinet line-up.

This is just a normal diplomatic gesture that the local dominant political entity offers to a new leader in the neighbourhood, America does the same thing with European leaders. Srettha will probably want to know if the place is dry yet before he goes.

Now quickly quickly get the guy to China before he may consider going to one of these decadent western places that will now all scramble to recognise full fledged democracy in Thailand, promise gigantic credits and megaprojects (more dams on the Mekhong, Highspeed rail links from Bangkok to Nakhon Nowhere ,Nuclear powerplants in Phuket and Samut Prakhan, more submarines, an aircraft carrier on loan, permission to build skyscrapers in Peking, etc etc etc) great to justify work permits for as many chinese "workers" and goverment triads, sorry: companies as possible , guaranteed by land, port and maybe airport licences (see Sri Lanka), make quick deal to extradite any Uighurs, Tibetans , Hongkongers and Taiwanese stuck in Thailand, so they can be happily reeducated.

China is a big market for Thailand exports and Tourism ????

Could be a big increase of Chinese tourists coming to Thailand in the future plus more trade deals good for the Thai economy ????

First of all I would like to congratulate you on suppressing the will of the people. The way you guys stole that election was crafty, and we at the CCP really admire you for that. That guy Pita was a pesky young one, and he wanted reform. You cannot allow that. One thing you will learn is that the will of the people is never important. It is the will of the government. We know best. They don't. So, now that you have learned lesson #1, you are well on your way. 

 

Lesson #2. Never wear your power lightly, or gracefully. As you can see, we do not. It is all about business interests. They must always come first. The people should always be a secondary consideration. Keep them happy enough so they do not revolt. That is all you have to understand about them. And do not allow them to protest or show their lack of fealty. That is not good either. And lastly, keep a tight leash on the press and social media.

Fine. Then maybe those faltering Western economies should apply reciprocal tariffs on Thai good going to the West until Thailand no longer has a trade surplus. Then, it can enjoy a trade deficit, just like it does with China.
