How many here on the Farang Pub hope to die in Thailand?
Not a chance I want to die here. I will go back to the UK and enjoy my final days there. I like the cold and walking in the autumn leaves to me is a far better way to go than sweating like a pig. Full time here to 67, then part time for a while and then full time UK in a nice conservatory watching the snow. I am far too worried about the cost of end of life here too. As a matter of interest anyone know if a pensioner on UK state pension would be able to pay for stage 4 cancer pain relief ? I have a friend here nearing this situation -

Renewing retirement visa obtained inside Thailand?
I believe that you can apply for your extension of visa up to 30 days before it expires, so why not do it early. I try to work with my local I/O; I visit them in the lst month, and ask for an appointment to make the extension, and then ask them to list the documents I will need to bring to them. Also check what photo I will need and show my Bank book o ensure that it will be accepted. On extension day, first visit my bank to get pass-book updated and the docs that I/O needs. Then to Immigration and extension done. Everyone happy and I am safe for another year. Usually I get a re-entry permit at the same time, just in case I have to leave in a hurry. I use ' money in he bank' instead of monthly income, as the paper work is easier, and the 800K is an emergency stand-by fund for me. -

7-Eleven Introduces Convenient PromptPay QR Code Payments Nationwide
That is just nonsense. You lose a card, have anything stolen, all the banks have 24 hour hotlines you can call and they immediately block your account. To reactivate you may need to present yourself with ID, but to block them is just a phone call at any time of the day or night, and with English speaking operators. I have done this several times in Thailand. I have also called them from overseas when I got my wallet stolen in France. Immediate block, not a problem. I didn't know my account number or passport details but they identified me and blocked the account. Please don't post rubbish if you have absolutely no experience. Are you for real? Why on earth would you set up two accounts and be bothered shifting money between them every time you spend 5,000 baht? Absolutely ridiculous. Every bank allows you to set a limit for individual transactions. Set it to 100 baht if it makes you feel better - hopefully tinfoil hats cost less than that. -

Your Two Months Rental Deposit
don’t expect a tie court to follow the law. Even when it’s clear cut. We had some children trespass and set fire to some of our property. Under law, the parents are responsible for their children. The damage was about ฿70,000, we sued in the court and we lost, and the judge’s ruling was that the plaintiff was a rich Farang and the defendants were poor Thai people and the rich Farang could afford the loss whereas the poor defendants couldn’t afford to pay. Go figure. -

US Catholic Diocese Settles $323 Million with Survivors of Child Sexual Abuse
For decades the catholic church has protected hundreds of pedophile priests guilty of molesting children. In many cases the denial prevented closure, compensation and justice for hundreds of young victims world wide. -

Any benefits in antibiotics
TLTR, your posts are getting too long again, thought you'd learnt how to summarise, BTW pretty much disagree with everything you spout -

The asylum would not have me. This is how I became a hermit. -

Thanks - I have a KT account - will give it a try. Unlikely to be accepted by Immigration for annual extensions - but still very handy to have at times. -

Perhaps, but they ignore people that have sex with sex workers, that group is always ignored but prevalent in Thailand -

What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2024)
There's a lovely series called 'No Body Wants This'; a rom-com with two sympathetic leads + a goodly number of well drawn support characters. I'm a sucker for Jewish humour anyway. There's a new take on Wokism. 'Women in Blue' is set in 1951 when there was no woke. It describes the 1st female police recruits and sets them in a chauvinistic workplace. (A further bonus for me is subtitles so I miss none of the dialogue.) -

Your Two Months Rental Deposit
The way round this is to tell your landlord when you intend to move out and ask them to come and inspect the property beforehand so you can put anything wrong with the house correct, then tell them to keep the deposit as the last 2 months rent - or simply do not pay it -

Biden Criticizes Trump on ‘The View,’ Calling Him a 'Loser' with No 'Redeeming Value'
Perhaps so, but he didn't start any wars, and that gives him all the credit he needs in my opinion. Harris hasn't said she will stop the Ukraine war- Trump has. I'll take the peacemaker over the warmonger every time.- 1

PM Appoints Pol. Gen. Kittirat as Acting Chief of Police Effective 1 October 2024
I wonder if Surachate Hakparn (Big Joke) supports this appointment - unlikely I would say. Anyone know what he is up to these days?? No news for a while now.
