According to reports in Thai media, Thaksin was moved to the wing of a hospital with private rooms fitted with air conditioning and a TV, fridge, sofa and dining table, while under 24-hour care by nurses.

Pretty much standard fare in any hospital private room.

Whats the issue ?

Officials have denied he’s been the recipient of any special treatment, saying the former prime minister needed urgent care as he was experiencing insomnia, chest tightness and high blood pressure and the oxygen levels in his fingertips were low.

Ah-huh.  ????

This whole saga just stinks, Daily food sent in, Laundry service can he shower everyday? normal prisoners once a week, the authorities have got no shame

But he is not a normal prisoner.

I really wonder what people think, that a former PM and billionaire is treated like a crackhead selling heroin? Only in 3rd world countries like the US.

That is a fallacy, just more Guardian garbage.  In Klong Prem showers are compulsory twice a day and they are not limited to 15 seconds.   Prisoners have more than enough time to shower, shave, rinse out clothing etc.

So you have hard evidence to support your statement?

Get a fo-oking life!

What would you have us do? Stay quiet? Maybe just sit at the bar with our mobiles turned off?

Long enough to know what I'm talking about.  There are people reading this forum to whom I do not wish to give any identifying clues!

One must assume less than 6 months as people who are sentenced to more than 6 months are automatically deported on release or is it those convicted of an offence that in law carries a sentence of 6 months or more?

Perhaps Liverpudlians get  little confused and don't realise that outside of Liverpool robbin' the leccy is considered a crime not a sport.

His perceived soft handling has prompted claims of special treatment and ignited a series of wider questions about standards within the prison system.

The prison system we all understand very well... and it stinks.

Except for the VIP room in the luxury hospital hotel wing reserved for those special guests.

Is it worth it Thailand, for the whole world to see the farce, debacle and shame you have brought on yourselves for the sake of ONE man? how can you ever look in the face of the world's community knowing you have sold your values and pride for the sake of one corrupt person?

Well the Thai elite didn't give a <deleted> about Thailand's image after the army rigged the system and took power these last 9 and a bit years so why should anyone care about a returning leader of a party that won many more seats than any of the previous mob?
