Maybe it's different in more cosmopolitan settings, but upcountry the expat demographic seems to be getting poorer. A lot of guys dressed in flea market attire, getting around on motorbikes, not many McMansions have been built recently either. Currently appears to be something of a post-covid travel restriction influx of guys who have either returned after a long absence or are newly arrived economic refugees. Wives and hubbies seem to be a lot closer in age than what you might have seen 20 years ago too (guys in mid-to-late 50's, wife in mid-to-late 40's). Appears to be very little social interaction between foreigners where I live. Maybe they're all getting together secretly and just not telling me, but I don't think so. A lot of guys seem like they avoid contact with other foreigners like the plague, but they also seem to be rather anti-social and not very outgoing around Thais as well.

I'd guess that these are NOT the 'average expat.' Just the ones we SEE in our regular, routine, daily life.  I'd guess the 'average expat' stays at home with spouse at night instead of downing 6 Leo's at the bar 7 nights a week.

 

But, yes... there sure is a problem! When a guy's stomach enters the room 60 seconds before the rest of him passes the door jamb, there really IS a problem. Morbid obesity will keep the expat numbers from getting too large.  Beer for breakfast isn't going to help.

The conversations are usually between my gf and them, but she translates when they are asking me questions. With farangs, the conversations can get a lot more involved, which is why we hang out together.

You went to Thailand to hang out with westerners? Do you go fishing to catch a chicken?

I came here to be with my ex and daughter. I found foreigners to relate. Westerners can understand other westerners because they lived that life. I see prejudice here between Brits and Americans, which I cannot understand. It's not like it's us against them, because I have no prejudice towards Thais, especially seeing my ex and gf now are Thai, and my daughter is half. I just can't relate as much to them as i can other foreigners. We, especially other Americans, have walked the same ground, fished the same kinds of places,hunted deer in different areas. As far as Europeans, I can talk with them about their countries, because many of them are on my bucket list.

Actually, most farangs I see here are either average height or tall. As far as a small penis, that's a common trait among locals, and how would you know if you haven't seen any farangs? Tall people are not in any way superior than anyone else, besides the fact they can usually dunk.

Under 6 feet isn't short. Average height for westerners is 5'-5' 10". Only 20% of the world's population is over 6'. In the US it's less.

Under 5 10 is short. Ive seen 6 foot Thais in CM. Even Khon Kaen has some Thais over 5 10.

If i go for a quiet drink in a bar to watch the world go by i generally try to avoid conversation with other farang, if someone dodgy sits next to me the earphones go on. A few days ago a crazy Dane sat next to me, he said "I'm a crazy Dane" i said i know

No it’s not just you that notices this. Most, at least 90% have some sort of social dysfunction, see it every day when I’m in the city. The visitors with families/couples seem very normal. It’s the guys with their holiday gf or wife that are freaking over the top weird, it’s the Hey look at me because I’m insecure syndrome. About 10% of the westerners I meet and talk to are capable of well rounded conversations and are polite and respectful. Also some western women age group 30-45 ~30% seem a little off, millennial chick tough dude syndrome.
