BANGKOK, Sept 19 (TNA) – Starting tomorrow, the price of diesel will see a reduction of two baht per liter, bringing it down to 30 baht per liter from the current approximate rate of 32 baht per liter.

This reduction is part of a policy aimed at reducing the cost of living, which involves both tax cuts and the use of the oil fund to support prices until the end of the year.

This decision was made on Sept 13 by the Cabinet, in an effort to urgently alleviate the cost of living for the people.

If i fill my pickup each month till the end of the year the most i will save is around 350 baht whoopy doo

Today I read about the worldwide shortage of Diesel fuel (couple of reasons) pushing prices up.

Fits perfect. Beware of tax man! (where will all the money for the benefits come from).

A meaningful measure would be to subsidise the transport business depending on Diesel but not the empty pickup trunks rushing to work/office/shopping.

As long as I see diesel cars in parking lots of shopping centres and supermarkets with running engines - empty of course as the owners and their passengers are roaming the air conditioned temples of consummation ........
Make public transport free of charge, add one or two Baht on benzine and keep the diesel price where it was lately - my unimportant grain of salt!

Pure populism, lowering diesel prices when crude on the world market has increased by about 20% in the last month.

Same for the electricity charge that will be lowered, while the cost to produce it has increased at the same time.

You remember last PT government, where similar populism was applied, but infrastructure was zilch, nada, nothing, and roads were in the worst condition I've ever seen them, because there was no money?

A similar debacle is on the horizon, and I'm sure a new coup as well.

A pure populism by the new Prime Minister. He promised also to cut the electricity cost by 0.5%, did he?

0.35 Baht/unit at the lowest scale.

That's about 7%.

They really need to do something about the price of unleaded petrol. That seems to keep climbing up so now more people are buying vehicles that use diesel.

The entire inland transport infrastructure on this country still runs on diesel; trucks, trains, ships, etc. Raising prices of derv would cut into a lot of GDP.

Have a diesel pick-up, so I'm happy; every little helps.

My previous month bill was 4035 baht, and for the last 6 months it has been high up in the 3K range.

This month was 3324 baht ????

My Ranger will smile.  And most days there’s something or someone riding in the bed.

Yes he did.

My bill arrived yesterday and the FT element has gone down from 5.41 to 5.11 baht per unit.

In April the FT element was 5.56 baht per unit.

In June the FT element was 5.69 baht per unit.

This months bill is the lowest this year since April and is 55.2 % cheaper than April.

Yes, back below 4000 for me too, but accompanied by lower consumption with some cloudier weather.
