Big Joke caught partying with leading online gambling operator

And in other news, the gov't is already setting up a committee "to examine the recent searches carried out on the residence of Police General Surachate Hakparn (Big Joke).

So they are investigating what led to those raids and who to go after for reporting Big Joke and his subordinates to the Criminal Investigation Bureau.

And the other article notes:
"Lastly, it was clarified that the raids are not directly linked to the selection of the new National Police Chief set for tomorrow, September 27."

Yeah. Just like when FBI Director Comey announced (with no evidence whatsoever) that the Bureau was re-examing the evidence in the Clinton "private email server" issue.
11 days before the 2016 election.

(And then told Congress, just 2 days before the election, that the FBI's conclusions hadn't changed from July when they'd recommended no charges be laid against her).
By then the damage had been done.

Like that wasn't planned to try and skew a lot of "on the fence" voters to vote for Trump instead of Clinton, by making it seem they'd uncovered some nefarious scheme that would make her unsuitable for office. (And remember all of Trump's "jail her !" rhetoric. Yet throughout his time in office they never charged her with anything).
(And she still beat him in the overall popular vote by nearly 2.5 million votes. But it did cause a number of "state electors" to go against the results of their states and vote for Trump instead of Clinton as they were supposed to do. However it seems she would have still lost even if those "faithless electors" had of voted like they were supposed to.)

So one has to wonder how this case against Big Joke suddenly hit the news.
The day before the selection of a new National Police Chief.
Days after a convicted criminal that still hasn't gone to prison was touted as possibly becoming an advisor to the current gov't (effectively becoming the shadow PM).
And days after a politician shot and killed a police officer and wounded another during a party at the politicians house, with the police providing him an escort to flee the scene immediately after the shooting.

I'm sure it's all just a coincidence.

While BJ singing karaoke with "Minnie" the gambler is certainly an interesting detail, I think it would be more productive to hear more from the police on the following from the OP report:

"According to Thai PBS, Big Joke’s financial transactions were allegedly found to involve the former president of Lamphun Warrior Football Club, Pongsiri “Tarn” Ratchawongsuek. Tarn was previously arrested for operating an online gambling site called TS911.com and for money laundering through his support of the football team."

There's a familiar precept when it comes to criminal investigations -- follow the money -- and that's what the Thai police should be doing here in determining whether there's been any wrongdoing on BJ's part.

Meanwhile, maybe I missed it, but I hadn't caught the notion that BJ had been sidelined from the Kamnan Nok police fatal shooting:

"Big Joke has been allegedly implicated in several major cases, including the recent murder of Police Major General Siwakorn Saibua. However, the case was recently transferred to the Crime Suppression Division by RTP Commissioner Damrongsak, leading many to suspect conflict within the RTP."

As it is clearly a "Thai interest only" subject I wonder, why this soap opera is given so much attention in the non-Thai media. We have nothing to say so maybe we read less about all that Thai-style rip-offs, cheating, lying and stealing from each other .........

Don’t believe everything in the news. Chances are he’s got a little close to exposing “Mr/Mrs Big” so it’s time to shake his tree a bit.

Speaking of, Chuwit Kamolvisit has been very quiet of late, has he been muzzled?

I’m not sure I understand how when they want to search his house he will not allow them. What does that say? What does that tell you that he owns a lot of houses he drives in Alexis I think these big cops when they bust of a gambling ring or an online it’s really lucrative they just take over the business. There are corrupt from the top to the bottom. It seems like the people that live here really don’t care they think it’s normal. TIT.

Nice haul of bent cops

Is the collective noun for a group of bent cops Royal Thai Police?

I'm sure there are honest ones but they must have a lonely existence.

The funny thing is nothing that he has done is necessarily unusual for someone in his position.

What has he "done", or been charged with doing?

I think most of you are assuming that Surachate is stupid . I do not think he’s stupid . Being at a party with a load of guys including a well known lawyer , photos taken ? He’s certainly angered a good few people lately, as happened before when he was demoted. Stinks of a set up . I’m not saying all the others at the party were innocent though.
