Popular Post Kerryd Posted September 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2023 It makes you wonder why they even bother with the subterfuge ? Why not just grant him a full pardon and then appoint him as PM again ? Then he wouldn't have to dance around to get all his accounts and money unfrozen and could have his revenge on the people that tried to put him in prison in the first place. That's literally how it looks like this is playing out anyways. 1 1 1

I distinctly remember many years back that a elderly foreigner in lockup was essentially in a vegetative state pretty much lying in his own excrement, and literally had to be rescued by media-shaming the authorities. "Suitable medical attention?" Suitable for whom? Luxury hospital suites for some, acetaminophen and a glass of fetid water for the less entitled? For some reason it doubt the veracity of the statement. 10 hours ago, webfact said: Police Lieutenant General Thawee underscored the significance of conforming to global standards for the treatment of detainees, ensuring compliance with international agreements that proscribe torture and ensure the safety of those detained. "Areas where prisoners faced ongoing challenges included: crowded and inadequate conditions of accommodation; cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment and punishment; unsanitary conditions; extremely poor quality of food and drinking water; inadequate access to healthcare; exploitative work; limited contacts with the outside world; lack of recreational and rehabilitative activities; and ineffective complaint procedures. In addition, independent human rights organizations’ access to prisons to monitor conditions continued to be unduly restricted." - International Federation for Human Rights, March 2023 1 2

But granted for whom? Everyone? Or primarily the wealthy and connected? Most villages have a number of people who have been imprisoned. Mostly for yaba busts. Therefore most Thais who know someone who has been in the Thai prison system knows exactly how that system functions. And most people therefore understand that Thaksin's treatment is a Sigma-9 outlier. The lack of transparency creates more distrust. Just saying. It ain't rocket science. -- or -- Pick up a book by one of those farangs who spent time within the Thai penal system and lived to write about their 'adventures.' Yeah - everyone get the same quality healthcare. Right. 1 2
Popular Post phetpeter Posted September 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted September 30, 2023 I don't believe that they should be allowed to use doctor patient as the reason, why? because they have already stated their clinical reasons for his attendance at the hospital. So giving updates to his condition is very much in the public and legal systems interest. It was enough for them to state why he needed to go into hospital, so, it should be expected to give updated information of his situation now, explaining treatment given and his present condition, otherwise people will consider that someone or others is falsely stating and covering up the truth. Sooner or later the truth will come out and someone will pay with their freedom for this. If he wants to turnover a new leaf, then e should come clean and serve his time. 2 2

That ain't going to ever happen and virtually everyone in Thailand, Thai and foreigners, know that. 1 1
