Is kindness something that works in life

The best way in my opinion kindness needs to show people how to take care of themselves. you can not help those who can not help themselves and just want to take. Kindness is love, help. not money . but all that is not to get back what you put in, that is an oxymoron.

Absolutely 100%.  Kindness is its own reward. 
Now, if you're looking to get something back for being kind?  Then you start to sound like most Thai Buddhist who give because the believe they'll get good things back in return.  If you think like that?  Well, it won't lead to happiness.

Kindness for me rarely has to do with money.

 

It is helping some one when they fall, it is holding the door open for someone when they are carrying something. It is a smile a nod or a wave.  It is pointing someone in the right direction when they are lost.

 

I have received so much kindness in my life life from other people that there is no way I can ever replay what I have already received.

 

Is it something that works in life? I have no idea but it would be a miserable world without it.

 

I will keep trying to be kind to people every day no mater if it works or not. I feel good when I am kind to others so I guess it works for me.

Of course it works even if it makes you feel good by being kind, a lot of voluntary and charity work is people trying to make themselves feel better

The person giving it may feel good about themselves, but in most cases I think it goes unappreciated.

And, nowadays kindness in many cases is considered a weakness.

You Have the wrong attitude, what you get back is not only from others, what you get back is mostly from yourself.

Life is and delusion , nothing is exactly as perceived, everything is subject to the filters it goes through before it gets to your mind. which is where you are . 

No need to be stupid, and being taken advantage of , but  if I am to delude myself, why not create one of kindness and happiness.

Agreed, although I would observe that this is true with other belief systems, as well. In my home country, those who believe they will get good in try urn or at least will avoid the fires of hell in eternity.

Psychologists have demonstrated the act of giving to,  or helping someone makes the giver feel good. Apparently the feeling is related to the release of chemicals in the brain.

When I give or help, I don't expect anything back. People who do are bound to be disappointed.

There are other reasons than to get something back for any good deeds immediately. But the seeds of your beneficial actions stay with you in a subtle way. But better not elaborate on that, its one of the most complex topics I can think of.

I thought @digger70 was referring to the existence of God and Hell in responding to another poster's statement.

I've never had a religious experience, although I understand they are available if one consumes psilocybin or LSD.
