Stranded British man seeks help as wife takes passport and sails away

A stranded British man, faced with the loss of his passport and funds after a family disagreement, found himself stranded in Phuket. Assistance from the Tourist Police was sought after his wife, following the dispute, left with his travel documents and a portion of their belongings.

 

The public became aware of the British man’s plight through a report by the Phuket Tourist Police, which was presented amongst other incidents of officers aiding foreign tourists in distressing circumstances.

 

While the identity of the man was kept confidential by the Tourist Police Bureau, the supposed occurrence of the event was traced back to either yesterday or within the week, with a photo of an official in a Vegetarian Festival t-shirt serving as a time marker.

 

The Phuket Tourist Police revealed the man’s domestic dispute.

 

“A tourist from the United Kingdom approached Tourist Police seeking assistance regarding an argument with his wife. The woman left the hotel with her spouse’s passport, so he requested help in tracking her down and retrieving his passport and money. ”

The husband needs to make a complaint of theft to the police first and he hasn't done that.

He would also need to report the theft to the police (IIRC it costs about 20 baht).

 

With that report he can report the missing passport to the British embassy, and they can issue something like a temporary passport/travel document.

 

I think he should inform Immigration as well.

The police may persuade her to return the passport, it's very inconvenient to lose a passport especially if he's got a bunch of active visas in there.

 

If not then sure, have her arrested and get a new one or emergency travel document which of course requires a police report.

 

I wonder if his wife is also from the UK and booked on the same flight back home?

If he's got any sense, he'll let her go. Permanently. He's in the right country to find plenty of nicer female company. Maybe this should be seen as a good opportumity to ditch the b.i.t.c.h!

Sure, plenty of nice female company, but only if kept at arms length. Actually, the truth is that generally that's they only time they are nice, unless of course you're loaded.

I don´t know why it´s a problem. Make a police report, get new passport. After that charge her with theft of a foreign governments document. The small amount of money she took, he should just se as a learning curve for being an idiot.

Speaking from experience, as I'm not loaded, there are very many nice ladies. The only problem is that they almost always want total commitment (marriage).

There is no explanation how she managed to take all his money and credit cards if he had any.  
And people are quick to blame her.  Granted what she did was wrong.  But there usually  are two sides to every story.  
People are saying forget her and find a nice Thai girl.  How do you know he wasn’t married to a Thai?  There is no explanation who he was married to.
