Pattaya police and city officials conducted a citywide patrol yesterday, October 29th, to ensure that businesses complied with the no-alcohol sale policy during the end of Buddhist Lent Day.

Yesterday marked the end of Buddhist Lent Day. The end of Buddhist Lent Day refers to the conclusion of the Buddhist Lent, also known as Vassa or Khao Phansa. It is a three-month period during which Buddhist monks traditionally remain in their monasteries for intensive meditation and teaching.

The end of Buddhist Lent marks a significant religious observance, and in some regions, it may involve various traditions and ceremonies. The prohibition of alcohol consumption during this time is one such observance.

Why don't Thais practice what they preach, it won't stop them doing whatever they want to do. I've said for years they should have a designated area for tourists. After all Thais living in tourist areas rely heavily on what farangs spend.

Shoukd be some big parties today with all those pent up for 1 day and no booze… Rock on!

The good news is the horrible band that plays at MYTH from 9 til 2 am and seems to think by playing louder and louder it somehow will make them better (it doesn't) were shut down for the night.

Isaan bloke here. In BKK the other night. Oh, the dry night. Better restaurants were giving their coffee mugs a real workout. Pretty upmarket restaurant I was dining at said the appropriate brown envelope ensured no BIB entered establishment to check.

You can't expect Pattaya police to work on a public holiday; they don't work most of the other days.
