Popular Post webfact Posted November 13, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 13, 2023 Rawai – A British man was arrested after he dropped a gun in an entertainment venue in Rawai, bringing the attention of law enforcement. He even left Thailand and came back before he was arrested. The Chalong Police told the Phuket Express that yesterday, Monday (November 13th), they arrested a man they publicly identified only as MR. JAMAAL, a British national (His age was not given). He is a wanted suspect in Thailand in an arrest warrant issued by the Phuket Provincial Court. He is being accused of illegal possession of a firearm and carrying a gun in public. The arrest came after recently the suspect went into an unidentified entertainment venue in Rawai. He dropped a gun in front of the venue apparently by accident. Security guards then found a Glock 19 blank gun on the floor. The entertainment venue immediately reported the incident to Rawai police but the suspect ran away. Jamaal immediately left Thailand early the next morning, flying out of the country, apparently aware that he was wanted by authorities. Popular Post Smokey and the Bandit Posted November 14, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 14, 2023 So from the attached article: "Police then found that the British man had been allegedly linked with many crimes in the Phuket area. He was also reportedly previously imprisoned in his home country for many cases such as selling illegal drugs and firearms." This wasn't just a one off accident, he was a known criminal in the UK? Dogmatix Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 If it was a blank gun and not modified to fire real bullets, there is no law against them yet as far as I know, even though the Interior Ministry has been seizing them and asking owners to register them since the Paragon murders by the 14 year old fruit cake. It takes some time to amend laws in Thailand. They need draft a bill first which needs to pass three readings in parliament and then usually comes into effect 90 days after publication in the Royal Gazette. 1

Not the brightest bulb in the chandelier though, leaving, then coming back? If he had previously been in prison in his "home country" for selling drugs and firearms, why was he let into Thailand in the first place? 1 1 2
