Popular Post sambum
"..........the British can be absolute savages." I think you are letting your xenophobia about Brits cloud your vision! The "savages" mentioned are the gang of 20 Thai women who chased the Brit into the street and gave him a hiding! 2

Your remarks are most likely 'tongue in cheek' but in case they're not...........not me guv, I visit Thailand to see temples and golden buddha images - much the same as the thousands of male visitors that claim the same. True story: Around 15 years ago a friend visited me in Thailand, he was going through a bad time and I thought it would do him good to see a different lifetsyle and have some fun along the way. His words to me before he left the UK when I told him I would meet him at his hotel and take him out in Bangkok were "OK but I'm not going with those girls, I just don't do that sort of thing, I'm coming to see the country" - up to you I said, I'll take you around for a few days, there's plenty of things to see or you can just chill. We had one drink in Morning Night on Soi 4 but were joined by 2 ladies that were well past their best and very pushy for drinks so we drank up and moved a few yards to Big Dogs bar. We were immediately joined by 2 lovelies who spoke quite reasonable English, drinks were on me and my mate was soon engrossed. He leaned across to me and said "so, you mean this girl will come to my hotel and spend all night for 1000 baht?" yes, I said, but you will also have to give the bar something called a barfine, oh and turf her out before breakfast - I think the barfine was 200 baht at that time. That was it, he was gone and I didn't see him again until the next day. From arriving at Big Dogs to leaving Morning Night he'd lasted 34 minutes. Never been in Paradise Agogo but I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the girls that 'attacked' this tourist were not actually girls. tmd5855
That is a maidens aunt tea party to what happened in Cristobal, Panama, New Years Eve, 1982. When local boat skippers came into the redlight, waterfront drinking dens saying we all need to get on the boats and head back to the ships before midnight (At anchor in the canal) something happened and 3+ bars/brothels emptied, windows smashed, bottles thrown, stabbings, kidnappings and one boat set adrift and its skipper thrown in the water. Being in our twenties we could run faster than the older guys who were robbed without a happy ending. LK Metro GoGo bar brawl pales away to what goes on in waterfront bars.

Popular Post Kerryd
There's more to the story that isn't being told. Zero chance that a fight broke out between the girls because they were "jealous" (with each other or the woman he was with). According to an "eye witness" in the club - "told the media that it appeared that Mr Fitzmaurice was much sought after by many of the young women in the club. ‘I think there was a lot of jealousy going on over who was getting which punter." Highly unlikely as he supposedly was already with someone. Unless he took her to a go-go and then started hitting on a bunch of the girls there. In years past I spent far too much time in go-gos and saw a lot of inter-actions between "dancers" and customers and the only time the girls get upset (normally) is when someone barfines one of them for a day or two and then goes back to the same bar and ignores that girl and starts flirting with another one. It's an age-old "pro-tip" that if you b/f a girl from a bar/go-go and want to change (the next day or whenever) - got to a different bar. Otherwise, the girl you b/f'd the night/day/hour before will think the other girls are trying to steal "her" customer. After a couple days, you can go back to the previous one. Then the girls will see you as just another "butterfly" and not as a potential "long term sponsor". 2

As the replies pointed out to your post a few days ago, families don't take their kids to a Go-Go bar in Soi Buakhao in the early hours of Sunday morning. Bangel72
There's often a complete lack of training and awareness given to staff. Some of the rabid comments can be quite close particularly if a couple of girls are on yabba, there's not much that can be done about that out in the wild. Here's though they are employed by a bar, there's a level of professionalism that it makes sense to drill into staff, fines, license impacts, money loss not to mention the basic stop being a mental case if you want to work here. The bar needs fined unfortunately, its responsible for it's staff, if there is trouble that's what your security is for, not mad wee sarah and her crazy gang on aisle 5.

OneMoreFarang
After another article like this I started a couple of months ago kind of survey thread in this forum to find out how many of the farangs who live in Thailand were ever attacked without any reason. There were many replies and (almost?) everybody replied that they never got into any unprovoked trouble in Thailand. That's the same with me. I visited many bars in many locations many times and I never had a situation where one or more Thais started a fight without a reason. Normally it just doesn't happen if you don't provoke them. And if you provoke them then maybe learn from your mistakes and don't do it again.

IMHO there is always a reason why these things happen. And normally there are warning signs before anything happens. And there are moments to say I am sorry and walk away. But of course, some people think they can do whatever they want, and nothing will happen. Yeah, sure, just try it. I agree. I have not read all the comments herein but Thai women revel in one up-womanship and his girlfriend had an ulterior motif and it worked.

kennypowers
What most men coming to Thailand don't realise is that many of these women are the equivalent to chavs back in the UK. They are basically the underbelly of society – feral, as someone noted above. It's got nothing to do with being poor. Many poor people the world over are peaceful and well-mannered. It is in the upbringing. Bad parenting: abuse, addiction, etc.
