In the early morning of December 3, 2023, a violent clash unfolded at a nightclub in Praksa, Samut Prakan, involving over 10 tourists seated at two tables. Prior to the altercation spilling onto the streets, multiple people sustained injuries.

Upon reaching the scene, officials discovered two individuals with stab wounds, receiving immediate assistance from emergency medical personnel. Simultaneously, a confrontation erupted outside the nightclub, prompting intervention from both law enforcement and the club's security personnel.

At the front of the nightclub, two injured individuals with stab wounds were found, while at the rear, a separate altercation involved six individuals, some sustaining facial injuries. Security personnel attempting to control the situation suffered injuries to the right arm.

Subsequently, the police apprehended a suspect attempting to flee, treating two individuals with facial injuries. Two others, suspected of wielding the knife, were taken into custody for medical attention and further questioning at the hospital.

Preliminary reports from 29-year-old nightclub security guard Phanthakan revealed a large group of tourists, numbering in the hundreds, congregated at the venue that night. The nightclub, which conducted ID and weapon checks upon entry, later witnessed confrontations between two tables escalating into violence.

Authorities have called the nightclub's security and eyewitnesses for additional questioning at Bang Pu Police Station to identify and investigate those responsible for the entire incident.

Governor Supamit Chinsiri announced that an investigation has been initiated to determine if the nightclub operated without proper authorization, promising legal action if violations are found. Currently, evidence is being collected, and a meeting with the nightclub owner is scheduled later in the day at the police station for further clarification.

This was 12 midnight. So what would you do? Close bars at 10PM? If you use your head even a little it would be clear that drinking hours are not the thing that creates the behavior of these kinds of people. They behave this way wherever they go, whenever they go. If the bars were closed they'd be doing it on some sidewalk somewhere. Maybe you should listen less to the voices in your head and pay a little more attention to how the world really works.

more proof extending drinking hours is desperately needed.

Completely irrelevant. This happened in a Thai nightlife area that will not be part of the 4am extended closing times, not to mention this happened long before 4am. Young Thais brawling has nothing to do with extending closing times in tourist areas.

Can't help noticing that the first report above says "tourists". The second report above says "Thai youth".

I assume they were young Thai tourists ...

Can the nationality of the tourists be confirmed ?

I hope I live to be 80, too.

Err, maybe not if it turns me into a killjoy who would rather clutch his wife's string of pearls than bandy about with butter knives.

10 Thai youth or 10 tourists? One on one? Nah - wouldn't happen!

Confused? I know I am!

The Thai police need to get on top of this quickly - not that they will.  Things are getting notably worse and will start to affect tourism.

I frequent clubs and bars and where there's alcohol, there will always be punch ups - goes with the territory unfortunately. Punch ups mind, not knifings and shootings!

Many Thais are tourists in Thailand.
