Community Mystery as Man’s Body Washes Ashore in Pattaya
Picture courtesy of Kaoded. A mystery is unfolding in Pattaya after the body of an unidentified man was discovered washed up on the city’s beach late morning of 18 May. Police are working to determine the cause of death and the identity of the deceased. At approximately 11:00, Police Sub-Lieutenant Akkarapong Saenputawong of Pattaya City Police Station was alerted to the discovery of a corpse on Pattaya Beach, directly opposite Soi 13 on Beach Road in Pattaya. He immediately responded to the scene with investigators and rescue personnel from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation. The body was found lying face down on the sand, clothed in a black T-shirt, bearing what appeared to be Chinese and English lettering and short denim jeans. A mobile phone was found in the man’s pocket and collected as evidence. The man, believed to be between 30 and 40 years old, had no form of identification on him, and neither his name nor nationality has yet been confirmed. Initial examination revealed abrasions on the man’s right eyelid and cheekbone. Blood was also visible coming from his nose and mouth and froth was present at his lips, suggesting the possibility of drowning. Authorities estimated that he had been dead about three hours before the body was discovered. According to officials from Pattaya’s Marine Disaster Prevention Department, a speedboat operator had earlier reported seeing a body floating in the sea not far from the coast. Before rescue services could respond, the body was pushed ashore by waves. Sub-Lieutenant Akkarapong has ordered the body to be sent for a detailed post-mortem examination at Pattaya Patmakhun Hospital to determine the exact cause of death. While initial assumptions point to drowning, police are not ruling out other possibilities at this stage. Forensic teams are now working to verify the man’s identity and investigate the circumstances leading to his death. Adapted by Asean Now from Kaoded 2025-05-18. -

Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
Reads to me that TRD may have made a mistake, depending on which LTR you have. I suspect you can if you can prove over paid. But I don't know for certain. -

Transfer of 800K using Wise for 1 Year Extension Visa
Just to clarify, you do mean the transaction limits of 2MM within Thailand from bank to bank? As far as I know there is no limit on incoming transfers from overseas. I recently wired 4 MM from the US to Bangkok Bank with no problem. They received it the next day. -

Crime Brutal Bloodshed in Pattaya: Briton Stabbed, Suspects Vanish
I think it could go both ways really. More tourists/ foreigners concentrated in hotspots = more chances for stuff to happen—fights, petty theft, nightlife drama. That’s kind of expected in places like Pattaya and Phuket. But if people are seeing a real uptick in serious incidents this year (and locals seem to be saying the same), maybe it’s just confirmation bias, but it's hard to say without stats, but the reports feel more frequent lately. Also, with everyone filming everything now, stuff gets noticed more—even if it always happened. Either way, better enforcement wouldn’t hurt. -
